Great drain, works well
Drain works very well. The spring mechanism is adjustable for height and can be locked in place by popping the cap off and tightening with a screwdriver. Drain is solid, spring mechanism is mostly plastic, but built well.

Not the best choice
The Westbrass Universal Tip-toe tub drain trim kit is okay in that it can transform the color of the bathroom from chrome or nickle to Oil Rubbed Bronze, which may be the desired outcome, however, the drain leaves a lot to be desired. The spring loaded pop up mechanism occupies so much of the narrow drain way it give the appearance that the drain is slow or partially clogged.
The drain offers both the small and larger, coarse thread options to fit most any tub available today and it goes in smoothly, but it sacrifices a wide open drain to accommodate the small size of drain. If it is for a bathroom that is rarely used it may be fine for decorative purposes, but I wouldn't recommend this style in a primary bathroom.
Also, brands vary in color slightly, this is a solid, very dark oil rubbed bronze, almost black in appearance.

Convenient tub feature!
Our push stop tub drain went out a while ago... I just didn't get around to replacing it. This kit made replacement easy. The only special tool you need is the basket removal tool. I borrowed one from a friend and in just a few minutes the job was done. After replacing, I had forgotten how convenient this type of drain could be. This unit is colored white and matches our tub/shower unit perfectly. The kit also includes the cover plate in case you have the older lever type system.

World's Best Bathtub Drain Stopper!
I requested this Westbrass Universal Tip-Toe Tub Drain Trim Kit in Oil Rubbed Bronze because I previously requested the three piece kit in oil rubbed bronze as well as we have been very impressed with not only the build quality of the product, but also the fact that finally someone had the genius idea to make a tub drain stopper that you don't have to bend down to open and close. This is critical for my wife and I since we both have back injuries that significantly reduce our mobility.

So we requested this tub drain kid through the Home Depot Seeds reviewers program so that we could do part of what is an incremental upgrade to our single bathroom in our home. Installation was actually going really well until I discovered that the "genius" plumbers that remodeled our home before we bought it decided to use some type of crazy strong plumbers cement on a PVC pipe connection where the chrome-nickel tub drain screws in. This has resulted in a stop to the installation of the drain (which consequently is our favorite part of this new product) until I can get a $40 tool to force the old drain to spin free of the fitting.

This tub drain kit looks and feels very high quality. I’ve put 2 danco brand ones in my tub and they are not good. They are the ones that Home Depot sells in the store. They start to chip and then stain the tub badly. This west brass brand so far has been great, looks and feels like much better quality. I hope it hold up longer than the first 2 I bought. I also like that the drain pops up instead of twists up.

The Westbrass universal tip toe tub drain feels much heavier than others in their product offerings. It’s got heft to it, made of quality materials where it counts except the drain cup seems quite thin. The major suspect for longevity of this whole product Is the finish. The matte black finish is an organic finish where many solvents will likely wash over, many soaps, hard water, acidic water and so on. This finish likely will not last but it’ll certainly be tested on my part as I swap out chrome for it. The assembly comes apart easily for install however, I don’t recommend this to a first time DIYer. The plunging mechanism to stop the drain seems nice except for the large rubber washer where other brands I have used and trusted had large O-ring seals. Your choice so give it a try if you feel it fits the build.

This is a great upgrade kit. It will fit most tub kits. The back drain cover is heavy grade and should withstand the regular bumping and tapping. The drain cover has a nice brass snuggling nut. It cycles very well and does not appear to have any functional issues. One could replace an existing setup with these two pieces to help dress up an existing system.

The West brass universal tip toe tub drain kit in matte black is an easy to install update for a new or existing tub drain. The solid metal construction seems strong and durable and the easy operation of pushing it to open and again to close the drain is convenient. It seems competitively priced vs other more well known higher end brands and since it is well constructed it's a great option. The matte black finish matches the other matte black hardware in the bathroom nicely.
