Q:Does this replace the UPPER element, or the LOWER element? I have been told that MOST units require DIFFERENT elements for the top vs. the bottom. I have a 52gal Westinghouse Stainless 220v 5500w unit.

Answer This Question

A:  This element can replace both the upper and lower elements. We would recommend replacing both elements at the same time so that you only have to drain the unit once.

Mixed review, bottom failed in 11 months, top one still working. I purchased two other brand titanium units. 5 year warranty but HomeDepot wouldn’t return or refund on defective item.

Works great, but I'm not sure if it's really worth the huge expense. This part costs 4 times as much as most stainless steel heating elements. Also, who knows where it really came from. Home Depot phone reps had no idea.

A104 errror- heating elements went out
A104 errror- heating elements went out after one year. Ive been without hot water for over a week and on forth trouble shooting attempt. After researching, this is apparently a bad water heater and tons of people experience the same issue. Rheem will send you free parts, but who has time to keep draining the tank to keep troubleshooting a problem that cant be fixed. Needless to say, I cant afford to continue hiring a plumber so i am returning it to the store. I dont wven want an exchange. I wont buy a “smart” wayer heater again. It’s stupid, not smart! Dont buy!

                  Very bad quality product
This heating element is of very bad quality. I bought one and installed it. It lasted less than three months. I returned it and bought another one. It lasted only one month. I could not understand a reputable store like Home Depot would sale these kind of piece of junk.
