Comet 52 in. Integrated LED Brushed Pewter Ceiling Fan with Light Kit

I've installed, maybe 30 ceiling fans over the past 30 years, and when I'm reviewing one, I always start with the ease of installation. This fan was like installing a fan from the 90's before the term ease of installation was ever heard in regards to DIY home projects. It does have a hook to hang the motor when you're wiring, but installing the fan blades was such a pain. The only access is through a slot in the plate on the bottom of the motor, so it made lining the blades up and installing the screws way more difficult than necessary. Other manufacturers have engineered ways to make this process easier, and Westinghouse should take note of it. Once it's installed its a good, no frills fan. It has three speeds, and comes with wiring so that it can be controlled by a switch on the wall if you have one. There's also the ability to flush mount it which is awesome, and it comes with a 6" down rod if needed. The light is very bright, it has 40 LEDs in it. and the fan operates silently. The pull chains come with a little icon as to which one is for the light and which is for the fan, and that is a nice touch. The color is more of a chocolate than an espresso, but it is dark enough that you won't notice in all but the brightest light.

This is a great fan with a nice, warm white light that is nice and bright. Its so bright in fact that I think we are going to get a dimmer to dim it down a little for when you don't need all that light. Install was normal for a fan. The ONLY thing I will say about the install was that these little red rubber washers were too small to go on the bolt they supplied to attach the fan blade to the motor so I didn't use them. Clearly there was some manufacturing issue or they sent the wrong ones but other than that the install was a breeze. The fan is nice and big and quiet which is great. There is no remote for this unit but that's fine since I didn't want one and planned on installing a dimming/fan control switch on the wall. All in all its a great unit that works perfectly for our living room.

This is a nice fan. I like the led lights they provide nice light and are energy efficient. The fixture is nice looking (more traditional). The blades are reversible from a dark wood grain to a black color. We used the black side in our room. Installation is typical in that you attach the blades and wire the light and fan to the switches. The light cover is held on with. Three finger tightened screws. It’s convenient but the appearance may not be for everyone.

This review is for the Westinghouse Lighting Comet 52 inch diameter Integrated LED ceiling light with fan and light kit. The reference number for this fan/light kit is #73072. This is an indoor only fan. This is a well manufactured fan and LED light assembly by one of the best well known electrical product companies in the world. The LED light has an 8 1/2-inch diameter frosted glass cover. It uses on average 16 watts and provides the light of a standard 75-watt bulb. It comes with a limited lifetime warranty from defects. If defective, Westinghouse will repair or totally replace this fan for up to two years. After 2 years, this warranty only extends to the fan motor. That's a pretty good warranty for a fan. Out of the box, it weighs just over 17.5 pounds so ensure you install it, and all other fans, to an electrical box that is so mounted to withstand the weight and vibration of a fan vs just a light. It's important you know your junction box is for the heavier weight of a fan. This fan came with 5 blades. You have a choice of smooth black expresso color or a dark walnut wood grain. Each blade is 23 inches long and 5 inches wide, with base, provides 52 inches of diameter, enough to move air in a large room. The fan is reversible for summer/winter use. On high, this fan moves a lot of air and on low, it circulates the air. The instructions say to use 15 supplied red plastic washers on the blade mounting screws. However, the holes in these washers are too small to fit over the screws. I simply chose not to use them instead of drilling out little 15 washers. A 4-inch down rod is provided, but I chose to use an 18-inch down rod from Home Depot because I had 10-foot ceilings and wanted it's drop increased. This fan kit does not come with a remote control, but has two pull chains, one for the light and one for the fan and it's speeds. That's ok, remotes get lost. And it can be wired into a wall switch. This fan does not come with a standard light bulb because the light is all LED installed no bulbs, ever! Sweet. It comes with, at times, an adequate set of installation instructions that are are straight forward, but they are not very specific and could be improved. Be Positive that you turn off and tag the power to the light switch before beginning removing any existing fixture and before any installation of this fan begins. I like to use masking tape and tape the toggle switch off! This fan was installed in a room that never had a fan before and the comfort level was far superior in the upcoming Phoenix summers, even with AC. A good fan made by a reputable company; you can't go wrong.

I am a "fan" of unique ceiling fans and this one fits the bill. I love the unique brackets that connect the fan blades to the fan. I have included a picture of the brackets below. The installation process is the same as most other ceiling fans. My only concern with this fan is the led light diodes. As with many new lights, you can no longer change a bulb like you could in the past. So....I don't know what happens when this light quits working. On the flip side, the light is bright.

This Westinghouse Morris 52 inch ceiling fan has all the latest features, including a full-function remote, an LED light kit, and a modern finish. The black iron body and lightly distressed appearance of the wood grain blades will fit most any decor. The blade mounts are very sturdy, with a top and bottom bracket with a screw that goes through the blade and the fixture. I've not seen this exact mount style before and it seems to be quite secure. This will go onto the angled part of a vaulted ceiling, so I'll need to do some mods to the framing first, but it will be a great addition.

I had a different ceiling fan and it was to bright for this area. This Westinghouse fan fit the bill perfectly. It can be wired to the pull chain and wall switch. the light is LED and creates a nice yellow light that's not to bright to the eyes. Instructions are easy to follow and It installs in four steps. Its a nice looking well made ceiling fan that is simple in design to last for years.

It is a very stylish fan that moves some serious air! Well built and silent. I researched fans extensively online and this was rated number one across multiple sites for a reason. Very happy with my purchase and with Home Depot for price match.

The fan did not work, frustrating to say the least!!
