Can the clutch base be removed to put the weathervane rod into the cupola?

AnswerNo, you can not remove the adjustable base. You would need to order the weathervane with a threaded mast. To do this you would need to order thru in store not on the Homedepot.com site.
can I mount on a flat surface

Sadly when we opened the box we thought that there...
Sadly when we opened the box we thought that there were missing parts due to the packaging and did not take it home. We reordered it through another store and discovered that we were mistaken and hopefully the next person realizes that the packaging is deceiving. We do love it and have spray painted it gold as it was hard to see with the background we had it in. Great size and fun to watch the wind direction

This is just what we were looking for! Screw the base down on the roof, stack the parts and your ready to fly. The price and quality are superb. It works like a charm! I always wanted to know witch way the wind was blowing, and now I do!
