A: I would not recommend it because seams could be a problem. Granted you could silicon seams and water prof backing material but it's not commonly done so it could work or it may not there is just no way of knowing for sure. I have a 1 piece shower unit that I refinished by sanding and painting which works well but only last 5 to 8 years.

A: The laminate is 1/16th inch thick. It is designed for countertops. There is 1/32 laminate used for vertical applications such as cabinets. But the thicker one can be used for both applications.
