Answer This Question

A:  I see no problem with that. However as a plumber let me tell you where I think you may run into difficulty and may want to consider other options. I would not replace galvi with copper. I would replace galvi with pex. Not cheap pex but a good pex system, like Uponor or Viega. Why? First pex is a better product than copper. But more specific to your project. You can not solder if there is any water in the lines. It will carry the heat away and make it almost impossible to get 95/5 solder to flow properly. Getting all the water out of the lines, each day, will be difficult. And if you don;t you may have to super heat the fittings to get the solder joints correct. So I would elect to no replace ancient technology with old technology. Instead i would go right to current technology

Leak, leak, leak. Connected to my pipes and wasted so much time trying to find the leak only to discover it was in the gauge itself. I had to disassemble, reseal and reassemble. Pretty low quality overall.

Great product, but the gage was not sealed in the body of the adapter at the factory. Not a big deal but took me a bit to figure out why my system was leaking very slowly!!
