Q:Will this work on a butcher block countertop?

Answer This Question

A:  Though fully cured epoxy is food safe, it is not edible. So if you use a knife on your butcherblock, you may chip out small pieces of epoxy which will embed themselves in your food. I suggest a mixture of beeswax and mineral oil. The downside is it has to be re-applied occasionally, though it really perks up you counter.

A:  You' re probably wasting your money if you buy this epoxy for 1/4" inch pours. Deep pour epoxies are hella more expensive least. Plenty of thin pour Epoxy options out there....

          Best epoxy I have used
Love this stuff! My quarantine woodworking project...I made an epoxy/wood table with some live edge slabs that had a bunch of splits and missing pieces. I made a wood plywood form box to pour the epoxy into. I lined the form with plastic tape, clamped down the wood (yes it will float in epoxy), and then poured the epoxy in to make a rectangular table out of the jagged piece of wood. The epoxy filled in all the missing spots in the 2" thick slab. I poured it all at once and it came out awesome. It does take several days to cure, but so do the other deep pour epoxies I have used. I think they do that to slowly dissipate the heat of a thick pour so it doesn't crack from heat given off during the epoxy cure. I do really like how this epoxy forms the decorative swirls as it cures. I did call the company for a technical question about adding the colorant, and their customer service was top notch! Please pick my photo for your $1000 contest...I could really use the money to buy more epoxy lol.

I would rate this product higher however the set up time is absolutely ridiculous. Even at 85° this product took 15 or 16 hours to set up. It becomes very problematic when you have a small leak that turns into a river. I wish to set up time was faster.

Worked well price a bit high but that's the world we live in now it was easy to mix good results first time for me with deep epoxy. Learning experience did the top of a wine barrel with patriotic items looks fantastic and will be great for an outside table. You love it or you're not an American.
