A:  Dear GAPEACH, I have owned this particular Feather Duster for some time now and have had absolutely no problems. While it's true that a stray feather can come out now and then it really should be a rare occurrence (it is put together, not an ostrich!) I would look up how to use and care for an Ostrich Feather Duster on the internet. It's not meant to be used aggressively, only to lightly move the dust off the surface and shaken out on the floor where it should be vacuumed later. A:  Well, this brand has been a good one. I clean homes and businesses for a living and have ordered from different places. The last time I got one, it was from Home Depot , and the duster is still on the go. I have to say that many times a feather will get caught in a pinch spot during cleaning with any duster. They will get caught and will lose, or pull a feather . I have had less of the lost or pulled feathers with this brand. I also have noticed in the past that after one has been pulled out , they seem to lose more, a lot faster. Under the plastic ring there is a metal wire that is tacked and wrapped around the feathers. Once you lose one from the wire, it is loose and will lose more. Hope this has helped. I feel this is a good brand and has been a great product.

A:  I have had no problems with this ostrich feather duster. Have had it for over 6 months and have not lost a feather yet. I highly recommend it.

A:  Feathers will come off, but not in small dust like particles, the whole feather will loosen from the handle or get bent where they are connected at the handle.

A:  A well made feather duster should last for years. I've only had mine for weeks, so I cannot give you a long-term answer, but I can tell you that it has worked well so far. The nice thing about feather dusters, as opposed to the man-made varieties, is that it doesn't tend to stir up the dust. As you dust, all the particles get trapped by the feathers, and then you just shake it off outdoors. Dust more often, so you don't have too much of a build up, and it shouldn't affect your asthma.

A:  It will depend on how much time you are talking about. Typically, the feathers do not come out, although there are rare occasions that they do (less than 1%), rather it be by damage or some other unforeseen circumstance.

A:  It's a very dark color more like black and I'd say they're feathers. I believe "down" is much softer, shorter and comes out in clumps; these are definitely feathers. This item needs the quill to be inserted into the handle.
