A: I have used this brush with polyurethane. The bristles are nylon and poly so the answer is "Yes." Here is info from a Minwax blog: Rather than use a natural bristle brush with water-based stains and clear finishes and watch it swell out of shape (top brush), I use a synthetic bristle brush, such as Minwax® Polycrylic® Brush (bottom brush). These bristles won't absorb water and won't lose their shape. And clean-up is a breeze with soap and water.

Doing a finish on a bed we made, wanted to try brushing lacquer, after checking out the available brushes at the store, I picked this one. Figured if it could be used for polyurethane, should be able to handle brushing lacquer. Overall it did do a good job, was able to get two smooth coats on. Problem is I needed three, so I did go buy a second brush. the problem I had was using the cleaning technique listed on the can of brushing lacquer, this brush just did not clean well and by the third coat was too stiff to use. Overall a good brush, but maybe if you are looking to use brushing lacquer, look else where.

We are sorry to hear you had problems cleaning your brush. Many of the lacquers on the market are fast-drying, and do require extra work to clean your applicator. We do recommend always following the cleaning instructions on your coating. Often you need to repeat these steps several times to completely clean your brush. Change the solvent as it gets cloudy. When complete spin, comb and let the brush hang dry.
