Questions & Answers

Can I use to take apart wooden pallets

Asked by: Bo
Yes as long as you are not needing to hammer it under the boards the pry head is made of cast iron and the weld will break. I had to cut mine and re-wield

Will it rip up plywood flooring

Asked by: John
Unknown. We used this to pry up deck planks that were nailed into a single joist. A deck plank is a 2 x 6 or 2 x 8 and is attached with 2 or 4 nails in a concentrated area. Plywood is considerably wider and is secured with more nails on more joists.

My deck is screwed in with deck screws that are impossible to unscrew, Will the tool still work on these?

My deckins is all cedar wood but the deckboards are screwed in rather than nailed in. I used deck screws for the deck in 1994 when I built the deck. Will the bar remove these boars in this case>
Asked by: rich
It works good for me, the screws will either pull out of the joists, or pull the heads of the screws will pull through your deck boards, or they will just break off.

Currently Home Depot doesn't stock them in stores. It must be ordered online. They can help you with this if needed

After a few hours I had only gotten 6 boards done and was sore from sitting on the deck prying. I went to Home Depot and bought this wrecking bar and it has to be my best tool choice ever! I could remove a board in about 60 seconds. Any nails that didn't come out with the board were very easy to pry out by going side to side with the claws. My wife helped me, and she discovered that if you pry the board up and then let it back down just a little bit off from where the old nail holes were, you can tap down the board with the bar and get the nail heads to pop up just a little. Then you can use the side to side motion and remove the nails without ever having to bend down. This is a great back/time saver!

The planks come up effortlessly with the use of good old leverage. I used to be on my hands and knees with a crowbar and a hammer spending hours to do this kind of work. Now I can remove one 15-foot plank in less than one minute!

It's a little on the heavy side, I was tearing down an old ceiling so the hefty weight was definitely noticable. Great tool, great reach, great leverage, if it was just a little lighter I would give 5 stars

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bent the Bar Working on a deck this past week. We bent one side of the claw pretty quickly. The deck boards were screwed down and the screw heads stripped so we didnt have any other choice. Try a burke bar instead. We had better results with that
