      Answer This Question

A:  Hi Matt. Thank you for your question. The YARDMAX 30 Ton 306cc Half Beam Log Splitter does not have an automatic return of the splitting beam. It must be manually reversed using the “Splitter Control Handle”. https://images.thdstatic.com/catalog/pdfImages/e9/e93c3367-722e-4a29-bdd0-c2322c5b845b.pdf (Page 23) Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. Great value and great machine
Unit was well packaged and all the components were there and fit. The instructions were clear, follow them to a tee, especially if you are assembling by yourself. I easily assembled it by myself, but this thing is heavy and could hurt you if you make a wrong move. A couple of things that made it easier to assemble; 1) I downloaded the pdf assembly manual to my phone, which made it easy to zoom in to see detail. At my age this or a magnifying glass were a must. 2) when installing the axle, I used a 2x8 under the foot (see photo) in the vertical position. This gave me more room to get the wheels on and prevented tearing up my concrete. I saw other reviews that complained about bolt holes not lining up. Yardmax must have fixed that problem on newer models because I had no issue. The kick stand hardware is different than pictured, as the stand axle and locking pin are one piece. This arrangement is not ideal, because with the weight of the machine on the kick stand you cannot slide the mechanism to unlock it. Instead you must lift the tongue to unload the stand, then unlock the stand and swing it out of the way. As i said this thing is heavy and that maneuver is diifficult. As others have noted, if not level, hydraulic fluid will leak out of the tank vent when in operation

          This is a monster
I bought this splitter after I had 4 large trees taken down, the largest was an oak with a 42 inch diameter. I wasn’t sure what it would take to split it so I went with the 30 ton. I also like the 10 HP brigs that powered it. I split the wood about a month after it hit the ground and the 42” oak split like butter. I was amazed. I even run the motor about 1/2 throttle to keep the noise down and it goes through everything with very little effort. If there is anything negative it would be the weight. It’s a very heavy machine but it has to be to do its job. I added a from fold up wheel by the hitch so I can roll it around the yard because the is absolutely no way one person can lift the tongue and push/pull it by yourself. With the added wheel I move it no problem. Overall product is Excellent!

            Bomber piece of equipment
This thing is very solidly built. I like the heavy duty steel construction. It tows very well. After a couple of hours of use it seems extremely rugged. Split mostly pine so far, but I will challenge it with some hardwoods over the coming months and report the results. The one star I took off for quality is because the cap for refilling hydraulic fluid seems to rattle itself loose from the engine vibrations. Nothing a little duct tape won't fix- very minor issue.

              Money Well Spent
Unpacking and assembling the unit via the manual was easy to follow. Added the supplied motor oil to the engine, filled er up with some gas and started her up. Went through the motions and checked for any flaws and leaks. All good here. I think I'll start splitting some wood. Very solid machine.

                Unstoppable
The Yardmax YS3065 was one of the easiest pieces of equipment I have ever assembled, spot on instructions and the hardware kit made the process a breeze. Was able to finish without help. Been splitting for a long time and this is the most ergonomic equipment I have ever used. Good luck stopping this bad boy, unbelievable power. ENJOY! LA

The Yardmax YS3065 was one of the easiest pieces of equipment I have ever assembled, well written instructions and the parts card is the cherry on top. Been splitting a long time and this unit is unstoppable. A+ and two thumbs up.

                    Strong Splitter
Really good machine. Breaks through knotty wood like nothing. Does it quickly, too. My only complaint is that it didn’t come with said “included 4 way wedge"... For the money i should have it.

Excellent Log Splitter for Ponderosa, Douglas Fir, Lodgepole and others
Excellent Log Splitter for Ponderosa, Douglas Fir, Lodgepole and others. I have used the log splitter for about 6 hours so far with no issues. The four way wedge is really nice. Like the metal feeders on both sides. Note: It takes more than person to assemble.

Much better Splitter than what You can rent from HD
My only reference point for splitters in the one that I have rented from home depot the past few years made by Barretto. This Yardmax has a lot more power and the cycle time is significantly faster. I like that the 4 way wedge is included but not a huge fan of how it is angled downward. The spinning base plate is a nice touch that I think is necessary but it will rattle when the engine is running at higher rpm's. It doesn't bother me but may bother some. I also purchased the larger log table that is supposed to only work on the full beam splitter. It does fit on this one but I had to wrap the hydraulic hose in some of the included packing material that came with the splitter because it touches the table. It serves its purpose catching the logs so you don't have to bend over and pick it back up off the ground. So far I have only split about a face cord of green oak and birch with the splitter and I am happy with it.

Paid the 45$ for lift gate service, freight company driver went above and beyond and put it in my garage for me. I completed the assembly myself, all in all it took me 3-4 hours taking my time. They have designed a very good assembly process. The only part that slowed me down was wheel assembly, when the instructions said to remove both bearings on each wheel. That part is incorrect, only one side needs to be removed on each wheel (it will be obvious because that side will fall right out). Spent the weekend splitting some very hard and knotty wood. The pieces where as big as 30" diameter and up to 24" long. Cut right through. I removed the four way splitter right from the get go. It is only useful on small pieces. Splitter come pre-filled with hydraulic fluid. You wont see any on the dipstick until after you run it. One lesson learned is that the splitter needs to be level on the stand when you run it. I forgot to retract the splitter all the way once and notice after I hooked up to my tractor. I started it (hitch side was low) and ot started venting fluid out the fill cap hole. Shut it right down and leveled, restarted, no problem. Also attach a trailer stand with wheel to help make it easier to move around the garage. So far, great splitter and love the briggs engine on it.
