Q:Would the chipper be able to chop hay & straw?

Answer This Question

A:  Yes, it can. Just make sure you direct or drop in anything organic and nothing over 3.5” diameter. You can shred cardboard for your garden . Anything you feed into the hopper   Should be done very careful and never put your  hands inside while machine is in operation.  Use a piece of wood or a branch to push in what your feeding it. Keeps hands out!!

Q:How wide is the C channel (doesn't appear to be tube) that the trailer hitch is mounted to? I am interested in using a ball hitch coupler instead of the pin hitch and need to know what the tongue width is.

A:  It discharges on the ground at the opposite end from the motor. Use a tarp on the ground

Strong machine. Handles hardwoods. Needs better fastners.
Strong machine. It handles oak with no real struggle. (Yes, the full 3.5" diameter, dried out and wet, just don't let it feed itself to fast) Took a little bit to figure out how the beast likes to be fed, but after that little learning curve, it keeps two of us busy. Made about 5 cubic yards of chips from oak tree materials. Used about 4 gallons of gas. Took about 7hrs between trimming trees and feeding the beast. We grease the bearings each time we put fuel in. Would recommend better fastner choices. The feed chute keeps loosening the bolts. I have traded all of them for ny-lock type nuts. I also changed all of the lock washers mounting the machine to frame. When it arrived, nearly all of the lock washers originally installed were spread / sprung, and not going to be very effective. The rods that hold the perforated guard in place bend easier than i think they should. Perhaps update the design to larger diameter rods? The keeper pins for said rods also vibrate out. I've had 2 disappear so far. I'm trying a different style now to see if i have the same issue. It's heavy to the feed chute side. While towing behind a quad, ours tipped over after going over a rock. The chanel for tongue is now twisted. Not the end of the world, still functional, but will be something i need to fix. I had hard time finding a 2" ball, 2" chanel hitch in stock. Perhaps up size the chanel to 2.5" wide, and widen the axle to make it more stable. Still, a good machine. It works great for our 22 acre woods. Have made roughly 10 cubic yards of chips so far.

I have used my Yardbeast 5 or 6 times now. And I LOVE IT. It is perfect for my 10 acre small farm. The Kohler engine starts up with one or two pulls. The chipper can handle good sized branches. I thought the chute would be too small but it’s not. And the shredder chute shreds smaller branches. I put a tarp under the discharge area to move the chips to wherever I need them. Very well made and pretty easy to assemble.

Fitting name for this chipper/shredder! Been working this machine for 4 8 hour days and it does a great job. Have to trim the larger side branches to feed the chipper and the shredder tackles those branches with ease. Very satisfied with the YardBeast 2090.

I have used this chipper/ shredder for a total of about 7 hrs now. Shredder part is good. However the chipper side is not up to par. Very slow and difficult to chip the wood branches. I have left a message with yardbeast company. Hopefully I can sort this out

It is very heavy duty, but I think I would like eat even more if it had a top exhaust for the chips. I don't know if they make an attachment so I could fill up cart with it, it is very expensive, but very heavy duty. Also I wish the toung weight was lighter...

This Yardbeast is true to its name! It makes quick work of anything that will fit in the chute, and turns leaves and twigs into dust! Assembly is a little difficult due to it's weight, but while operating, you will be glad of how solid it feels. You do need to pull it with a tractor or atv, though.

This product was named correctly. It is a rugged Beast. I have been using it for 3 7 hour days on crepe myrtles, wax myrtles, bass woods, live oaks, hickorys and various shrubs. A lot of 3 1/2” stuff as well as small leafy trimmings. It makes small mulch pieces out of everything. I was a little nervous about the manual start because I’m 62. It’s a breeze to start and run. I think it’s the same Koehler 14hp engine that’s in my John Deere tractor.

I bought this chipper directly from the manufacturer. Instructions were clear and took about 1 hour for completing the assembly. Poured oil, filled up with gas and started at the second pull. After approx. 14 hours, I am impressed with the performance of this chipper. The self feeding feature is very handy; it will gobble down twisted branches fast. The shredder is a beast. Unless you have a pit to dump the chips in, make sure to place a tarp at the bottom, it will fill up very fast and it will make your work a lot easier.
