A: Yost 750-DI (ductile iron) Heavy-Duty 5" Multi-Jaw Rotating Combination Pipe and Bench Vise is made in China to Yost USA specifications and standards. This is the only rotating vise made from high strength ductile iron, all others are constructed from cast iron. Yost 750-DI is at least 2 times stronger than all other rotating vises.
A: No
A: The Yost 750-DI Heavy-Duty 5" Multi-Jaw Rotating Combination Pipe and Bench Vise is made in China to Yost USA specifications and standards.
A: This model is not made in the USA.
A: it is cast steel. works good so far, but I said that about my first wife.
A: This vice is made from cast iron. (High strength ductile iron per Yost). It is not made from forged, solid steel. I absolutely love mine for what its worth and its clamping power is fantastic.
A: Neither. The 750-DI vise is constructed with heavy duty ductile iron castings (65,000 psi tensile strength) whereas the 750-E vise is constructed with cast iron (grey iron castings, 30,000 psi tensile strength). The difference in the material of construction means the 750-DI vise can withstand higher torques and applied loads than a typical cast iron vise. The 750-DI, ductile iron vise, in comparison to a “steel vise”, would be comparable if each have the same part metal thickness and overall weight. The 750-DI is rated to 165 ft-lb torque whereas the 750-E, cast iron, is rated to 95 ft-lb torque. The applied load or clamping pressure on the 750-DI is 7000 pounds whereas the 750-E is 4000 pounds. The shipping weight of the 750-DI is 63 pounds whereas the shipping weight of the 750-E is 42 pounds. The 750-DI has replaceable hardened steel pipe jaws whereas the 750-E has cast in place (non-replaceable) pipe jaws. Jaw width is the same on the 750-DI as compared to the 750-E, both at 5". Jaw opening on the 750-DI is 5" whereas the 750-E is 4". Machinists' jaw throat depth on the 750-DI is 4" whereas the throat depth on the 750-E is 3". Pipe jaw throat depth on the 750-DI is 3" whereas the throat depth on the 750-E is 2-3/4". Pipe diameter clamping capacity on the 750-DI is 1/8" - 3.5" whereas the pipe diameter clamping capacity on the 750-E is 3/8" - 3". The 750-DI has a rotating head that features a pull pin for quick adjustments in 12 different locking positions. The 750-E uses a locking set screw to lock the vise at any angle. All in all, the 750-DI vise is twice as strong (robust) as compared to the 750-E vise. I am confident if you select this vise you will be pleased you did for years to come.
A: The Yost 750-DI vise is not made from forged steel but rather ductile iron, that's what the DI stands for. Ductile iron is made in such a way that it is much stronger than standard gray cast iron. I've had mine about a year and it's a heavy-duty, versatile vise that I'm very pleased with.
A: This vise is cast iron.
A: The vise is made of cast iron...it is a great vise. We are totally happy with it.
