Questions & Answers

Has anyone used to remove vinyl siding

Asked by: Sue
I don't think it would work very well. It has a small angled finger that pushes trim away from wall as you drive it down. Vinyl siding is very flexible it would just bend where the finger is. As vinyl siding is held on by galvanized nails I would think a good quality cat's paw would make short work of removing those nails.

not sold in store why?

This tool should be made available in store and can easily substitute some of the lesser selling tools pry bars or scrapers.I have seen this tool used in on line videos and think this alone would out sell some of the bigger bars used for for trim pulling, people remodeling don't have time to wait a week if doing a project involving pulling and saving door trim to use in another part of a house.

This Product is so Good, that if it were sold in stores it would make all other tools look fundamentally inferior, causing a sales issue for Home Depot. Plus it might cause back-pain issues for their employees, who would constantly be re-socking these bad-boys by the pallet due to hyper-active sales.

Where is it located in the store? App says 3 in stock and associates can’t find them.

My store didn't sell them, and I had to order it online.

Rob, can you provide more details to your outrageous comment how you damaged the walls, it takes great effort to do that

Asked by: Handyman
If you use it not as intended, and pry in the OPPOSITE direction, you could still damage the dry wall to be fair. If you are super busy and don't have the 7 seconds to look at the clear instructions on the front of the Puller, I can see a blind person perhaps pulling it the wrong way.

Great little tool for pulling baseboard from wall without damaging the walls. Also great for pulling door and window trim away from walls. It's like using a wedge. Simply lightly hammer the wedge between the trim and Wall, and the piece you want removed simply pushes out from the wall for easy removal. Well worth the money!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have to remove quite a bit... I have to remove quite a bit of oak trim from my 1970 ranch house so I can install laminate flooring. This tool makes the job a snap no wall damage & no broken molding, with the house being almost 50 years old that oak trim is pretty dry & brittle. This tool is a little pricy but well worth it.

Cut paint/caulking top of baseboard, use a painter’s scrapper/knife to pry the baseboard back 1/8th inch, then with a mallet push the Trim Puller behind the baseboard, and pry up or sideways. Couple hundred feet of baseboards removed with no damage. Also works well removing carpet tack strips.

The trim just bend down and it made it very difficult to remove. The trim puller made much easier to get the trim to come away from the wall straight and be removed.

Because of the wider face, the torque against drywall is spread out so much more (and you have a better chance of catching a stud) so there is much less drywall breakage compared to the use of a flat bar or hammer itself. The tools is pricey, but works great.

I have never removed trim so fast and without breaking any trim. I put a piece of really thin plastic behind it so as to not scuff the walls.
