Will the trim puller remove crown molding without damaging drywall or the trim?

Asked by UP April 22, 2020

Yes, as long as you trim any caulk first and take your time with this tool, making your way across the length of the moulding.

Can you extend the handle with a paint extension rod ?

NOt this one. Zenith Ind. makes a floor scaper version of this that has a threaded end. HD sells it, but may not be in stock at all stores. I'm not sure these would hold up with a gorilla on the end of an extension.

I never reviewed the Zenith website as I only searched Google for a “Easy Floor Trim Remover.” The Zenith model was first on the list and watched the video. The ease sold me immediately. Therefore, I never reviewed the Zenith website and never identified different SKU numbers.

Has anyone used to remove vinyl siding

Asked by Sue April 8, 2018

Answers

I don't think it would work very well. It has a small angled finger that pushes trim away from wall as you drive it down. Vinyl siding is very flexible it would just bend where the finger is. As vinyl siding is held on by galvanized nails I would think a good quality cat's paw would make short work of removing those nails.

Where is it located in the store? App says 3 in stock and associates can’t find them.

My store didn't sell them, and I had to order it online.

Rob, can you provide more details to your outrageous comment how you damaged the walls, it takes great effort to do that

Asked by Handyman September 12, 2017

If you use it not as intended, and pry in the OPPOSITE direction, you could still damage the dry wall to be fair. If you are super busy and don't have the 7 seconds to look at the clear instructions on the front of the Puller, I can see a blind person perhaps pulling it the wrong way.

How much does it weigh

I would say under two pounds. it is pretty sturdy.

Now I get to patch a hole in the wall too!
Bought this to remove basic pine baseboards to avoid needing to patch holes in the wall from removal with previous tools. First baseboard came off with some minor scuffing of the wall. Not thrilled, but better than a hole. On my second baseboard removal the tool went through drywall instead of prying the baseboard off. Baseboard stayed firmly set to the wall, and the tool went through the drywall instead. I had better luck with a regular thin prybar and a long bracing board to spread force across a much larger area. Waste of $30 and I will be returning when I buy the materials to complete my new project... Patching a hole in the wall.

Destroyed my drywall
I really do not understand how this product received such great reviews. Based on the reviews, I bought this to remove the baseboards in a small bedroom. Thus far, it has completely ruined my drywall and now I'll have to do a bunch of drywall repair prior to putting up my new baseboards. This is super annoying. I definitely do not recommend and will be returning this item to the store. I'm sure I'll have better luck with my utility knife and oscillating tool.

I'm not sure why this thing is 30 DOLLARS, but I bought it anyway based on the fantastic reviews... and I'm not sure I'd say it's "worth it" but it did not disappoint. We removed all the baseboards and some trim in a couple rooms within minutes, with just one little ding in the drywall as we got the hang of it. If you're looking for an easier, faster, and more gentle tool than your typical pry bar, just swallow the price and buy this thing!

This baseboard/molding remover is amazing! I've started some DIY projects at home and in preparation was researching how to remove baseboards. There were cheaper products such as a crowbar, which can damage walls, but I decided to spend a bit more on this after reading reviews. I am extremely happy with this product! Pulled old baseboards and moulding off with little work and absolutely no damage/dents in my drywall.

This made pulling the baseboards off much easier and faster but it did pull some paint off the wall when we rushed the job. So take your time and do it right.

Save time save trim save $
This thing is amazing I did a decent sized room in less than 15 minutes and didn’t hurt the trim except where I tried using a wonder bar before I bought this thing. Best 30 bucks spent! Get it and know your going to love it! Here is a video I posted of me doing a room with this awesome tool https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oeBqROj43TQ

Easy and Effective
My husband and I bought a bit of a fixer upper. We’ve been working on ripping up the baseboards and tack strips and ripping down all the trim around the doors and windows. After using a pry bar and hammer, we had chunks of damaged drywall and it was taking us forever to get little sections done. My dad suggested this tool. I have never done anything like this before, but this tool makes it fool proof. Seriously, it’s so easy. Doesn’t damage the drywall and makes it much more time efficient. Trim came off easily, with little effort and could be used again if we wanted. Highly recommend!

I’ve been using two long handled Bully Tools to remove old vinyl flooring. This Zenith trim puller is the perfect complement to pry off those in tight areas, or to get them loosened enough to finish up with the floor bully. I’m 100% satisfied with the products and with the great customer service I received when picking them up.
