The box itself is good, but the mounting systems are absolute garbage. Came home tonight to find the $600 mail box laying on the ground because the wind had caused the metal to fatigue and fail. 16 gauge steel my butt, the post is aluminum that's been barely welded together. Guess I'm not getting my mail tomorrow! Overpriced garbage, about six months old.

The mailbox arrived to much anticipation for installing this in a new wall that was being constructed. I was looking forward to having a secure, durable box for my mail and small to medium packages. I opened the shipping box and found the vault to be in good condition. I examined the vault by opening the door. The inside flap that keeps people from reaching in jammed and wouldn't go back no matter what I did. There was also a screw rolling around inside. If the manufacturing of this device includes not tightening screws, how else might they have failed? The jam also meant the front door was stuck in the open position. SOOOOOO glad I didn't have it built into the wall! I reached out to the company for advice on how I might get this functioning or if I should return it to them or Home Depot. Their silence was deafening. Too bad they didn't seem to care about the customer. I returned the unit to Home Depot and bought an alternate secure mailbox.

      Love It!!
I am back to purchase my second one of these beauties. I was having trouble with mail theft and this solved that problem. I also get tons of mail and packages so this holds quite a bit. I have gone five days or so without checking it and it has stood the test. The only reason I am back is that I live on a busy canyon drive in Los Angeles and this week someone came up on the curve and mowed down my mailbox and sent my trash cans flying. Of course, it was a hit and run. No one has any honor anymore. Luckily, I have really good security cameras and it was all caught on tape. Hopefully I can get my new mailbox set up covered by the wayward driver if the police can run the plate. At first, I thought the mailbox didn't really get damaged. I thought all I had to do was replace the pedestal, which was sheared off at the base where it meets the metal bolt plate. The top of the pedestal was still attached to the mailbox. Unfortunately, I tried to open the door of the mailbox this morning and it will barely open. So the whole unit is skewed and I don't think I can fix that. The point of this story is to let ya'll know this unit is tough. The pedestal really does the job. We have Santa Ana winds here in Los Angeles and they come screaming down our canyon. This thing is rock solid under that force. It took a speeding car to take it down! When I purchased my first one, it did not have a letter clip that is shown in this version. I think that is a total plus. I had to modify my door and tape in a ultra thick binder sleeve (used Gorilla tape) so that when you pull the door open, you could reach in and the mail would be in the pocket. Worked great. We will see how this new clip does. If it doesn't do the job for some reason, I am happy to go back to my DIY letter pocket. Bonus is that Troy at Dvault is super nice and happy to answer your questions. In terms of install, It was easy to mount. We poured a small, flat, concrete base, and bolted it down. Or I should say, the workmen did. I was just the mouse in their pocket. Total win for me.

        Needs Work
We have yet to install this but it seems like it will do what we want it to except unlike as pictured the locking door is not on the front but on the back. Of course the only instructions are for installing the flag (more on this later). Thankfully we are handy we found and removed the 8 nuts (difficult because it has to be done by feel) then turned the top around 180 so both doors are facing forward. Otherwise we would have to be down in the ditch to get our mail out the box. The diagram picture is very misleading as it shows both doors on the same side. We also feel for the price the holes for the flag should have at least been pre-drilled once again we are handy and have a drill but not everyone does. Had we not just spent some time doing all of the above instead of simply installing it on the curb we may have given it a higher rating. The problem is we paid quite a bit of money for something we had to work on and get it how we thought we had ordered it.

          Outgoing mail problems
It is of good quality and will be very useful for securing in- coming mail and packages. The only negative factor is that it does not have anyway to mail outgoing mail. I emailed dVault, manufacture, and they advised me that there was a kit that I could add. I have emailed them twice since then asking for information and price. They have not answered my last two emails.

Good value for high-capacity, secure mailbox
We use this mailbox in a residential setting despite its commercial-looking styling. Installation was straight-forward and the design is quite tamper-resistant. The company offers a keypad lock for convenient access, but only will supply it on orders of 25 units or more, hardly making it available for individual residential use, so you just have to get used to using a key to get the mail, the same thing you would have to do for most post office boxes.
