Q:I?ve seen some problems regarding problems with painting. Is it primed for painting and if so do younuse latex or oil for the finished product.

A: This door comes primed, only requiring light-sanding the entire surface before applying paint to it. We advise you to follow our painting instructions found in our Use and Care manual, which can be downloaded from your Home Depot product page, or you may send us a message at doors@eightdoors.com if you want us to send you the instructions. Regarding the primer on our door, it can be used with either water/latex or oil-based paint as long as the paint is recommended for application on wood. Here are some complimentary instructions to help you avoid issues while painting your doors: Do not apply the second coat of paint before letting it dry as that may result in peeling or bubbling. Avoid painting thick coats, which may lead to peeling or cracking. Make sure the primed surface is not oily and is free from moisture, dirt, dust or anything that could cause the paint to not adhere to the primer. If you encounter any paint issues even after following all of these instructions, please send us a message at doors@eithtdoors.com so we can help.

Q:Can i fit two 36 inch sliding doors for 70' X 82' opening with this?

A: Dear customer, If you use jamb-mounted by-pass door tracks you would be able to fit the doors in the door opening taking advantage of the 2-in. space between the top of the door and the head jamb to fit the tracks in, and you would have 2-in. overlap between the doors at the center of the opening, which would be ideal for full privacy. These doors were listed as solid wood, but they were engineered wood! Bad specifications! When searching for solid wood that implies NON-ENGINEERED materials (MDF). Would suggest that HD go back through their doors and other products and make a concerted effort to disclose ENGINEERED WOOD from Solid Wood Products. The crucks of this is that the people for the most part in the big box stores are not trained by experts and are totally clueless as to the differences in these two groups of materials. MDF ENGINEERED WOOD when cut even with a new carbide blade will fuzz out and not be a crisp tight finished line. If you mess with it further it tends to expand and fuzz worse and worse! SOLID WOOD on the other hand is high quality off the stump its not finger jointed or laminated pieces they are continuous SOLID WOOD end-to-end! your get what you pay for. BUYER BE WARE!

So far so good! My carpenter did some adjustments to each door so they’ll fits in my old door frame. Don’t know how good it’ll hold up for daily wear but I like the looks.
