Hello, Thank you for reaching out. The item does not come with a power cord included, it requires hardwiring. This means you’ll need to connect it directly to your electrical system.

Does this also throw off some heat??

      Answer This Question

Hello, Thank you for reaching out. This item is designed primarily for ventilation, meaning it helps remove excess heat, moisture, and odors from spaces like garages, attics, and workshops. It doesn’t generate heat itself; instead, it works to expel hot air from the area, helping to cool it down.

Does the plug need to be outside or inside of the room it’s being used in? If it can’t get wet then how is supposed to work?

        Answer This Question

The thermospeed controller must be plugged into a dedicated outlet and must be installed next to the shutter exhaust fan, where the power cord is going to be plugged into the thermospeed controller. The sensor is on the thermospeed controller and not on the fan.

Hello, Thank you for reaching out. The plug for the 12-inch Shutter Exhaust Fan with Thermospeed Controller should be inside. This ensures that the electrical components are protected from weather elements and potential damage.

I had one of these or something very, very similar to it from Grainger, that was still working when we sold that home. (I purchased it in 1979 and when we moved from there in 2009 (30 years!!) it was still operating nicely in that garage!) We just built a 24’x24’ garage here and I purchased this online for $86.00+tax (model ILG8SF12V-ST) at the end of July 2024 and today November 8. I just installed it. The straightforward instructions helped as I boxed it in with some 2”x6” lumber in the wall. The installation took about an hour and a half including the outside trim. I love the fact that it’s got a thermostat so when I need summertime cross ventilation in the garage we’ll have it. In summary, great looking fan, reasonably priced and easy install. Mike

Easy install addition to our chicken coup - like the option of the thermostat control or always on?

Quality, Easy to install, great for my greenhouse
I needed a fan for my greenhouse. Greenhouse fans are ridiculously expensive, so I looked for an alternative. This is perfect! It was easy to install and even easier to operate. I really like the different options of the fan. You can have it controlled by the temperature or not. You can also control the fan speed. I have it set for temperature control and it comes on automatically - all summer long with no issues. If I needed a fan in my attic, I would look to this brand.

                        Great value.
Easy to install. Just cut the hole and plug it in. Attic temperature dropped from 120°f to 101°f within couple hour.

Thermostat Has to be Reset Occasionally
I installed this in the wall that separates the attic over my living space from the attic over my garage. I've had to reset the thermostat at least twice. This entails climbing up into the hot attic, unplugging the thermostat and plugging it back in (maybe I'll just find the correct breaker at the panel). The worst part about this though is having to listen for the fan to make sure its running. This defeats the purpose of having a fan thermostatically controlled. (No more room in review)

                            No documentation
This will not install from the outside, it must be inserted from the inside. This doesn't seal the fan penetration naturally so you have to figure out how to flash/seal it. Also, I had to make a frame for the inside (osb is too thin to screw into without penetrating sheathing etc) so be sure to leave an extra four inches on each side of the penetration for that. The fan sensor lacks documentation. It is easy to use but I leave the fan running and come back to find it off and the sensor flashing.

                              Vent the Greenhouse
I installed in my 8’x12’ greenhouse. It does ok now but I’m sure a shade cloth will be required as it gets closer to summer
