Roomba j7+ (7550) Self-Emptying Robot Vacuum – Avoids Obstacles Like Pet Waste, Smart Mapping, Alexa, Ideal for Pet Hair

It's a good little machine, but the suction isn't stellar. Even the one of the Self-Empty base isn't very good. I have a Roomba for my Birds to pick up stray seeds that fell out, and it often misses some, and on the self empty base- most seeds stay behind inside the Roomba-Canister. I also do not like, that you can not set roomba to do criss cross vacuuming like another Brand I know. Meaning, setting it for an extra thorough clean, where it first goes the room lengthwise and a second round side to side. The only thing that made me decide for the Roomba after trying that other Brand is, the app works really well. You can set different schedules for different days and Roomba works well with Alexa, and notifies you of any issues or completed jobs. The other Brand, with a unstable, constantly crashing app, not working well with Alexa and most of all the very limited scheduling capabilities- had phenomenal mapping and exceptional cleaning capability and no vaccume bag needed (Hepa Filter with removable easy dump cannister on the charging Station. BUT not having a good app, limited scheduling capability would have made it a little less useful and more of a headache in the long run. So I decided for the Roomba. It does take amusing pictures and I still love and enjoy my little Roomba. Maybe my CON's will be PRO's down the Road when those things are improved and I will certainly opt for that newer Generation. Til then my little guy will be good enough, just not perfect yet- overall still a good little Robot to have.

Dropped the communication and not able to connect the server for a month with the iRobot app, both in iOS as well as Android Device Tech team escalated next level but no one contacted. Escalation team not responding as needed.

I wrote a big review, but it was not accepted by the web site. here I will send pictures of what this did to my oriental hand made carpets with it's rubber rollers. I called and asked if they carry replacement rollers that are not rubber, just like brush , like all other carpet. but they said no. so please do not buy or use for carpet

Highly disappointed with this product. I bought the j7 and it took months to figure the layout of a 2 bedroom home. Doesn't even vacuum things up and misses problem areas even after it goes over them. Very noisy, not Impressed at all. Definitely would not recommend if you have animals in your house. Not to mention it was running for 3 hours and didn't pick up a single thing of significance, but got stuck because a bag was on the floor in the bedroom that it somehow got around to go in there...

Set up is easy and so is the Android App, worked well for its first run and cleared the debris out fine.Tried to have it clear the debris out the second time after it went out cleaning/mapping and it is having connection issues with the part where the debris goes in to the base station. Followed all the steps iRobot suggests (Removing and leaning debris tube, checking the debris bag to make sure it isn't full/has a solid seal, make sure the top lid is closed on the base station, cleaned out the debris collector on the vacuum manually and re-installing it) and still won't work!I've had it less than 8 hours and I'm already going to return it. For $700 this thing shouldnt have unfixable errors or have more solutions to fix the issues

It's really nice to come home to clean floors. It picks up my dogs hair nicely and has a good map of my home. I also love that i can turn it on from the app while I'm away. However, it hasn't been able to self empty since it arrived. I'm not even sure how it's supposed to self empty as there's no connection between the base and the robot other than where it charges. i contacted customer service, but they take at least 24 hours to respond and they just re-send instructions on how to unclog the base (the error i receive). I had to explain again that there is no clog- it has never emptied itself. Let's see if they actually read the email or just keep re-sending the "how to unclog the base" instructions. And if someone knows how the heck this is supposed to self-empty (see image), please explain- because there's no opening on the robot that sits on the base emptying tube.

I've been an owner many years of a 690 Roomba and the J7+ is a quantum leap. It's fun to watch as you see the learning process and how it avoids things like my dogs, power cords and other items in its path. The roller brush system stays very clean and its much more efficient than the old brush system. I find it easy to clean and maintain. No more light towers like the old units. It maps your home and allows you to draw room boundaries, name your rooms and choose what rooms you are going to clean. I have a beagle/dachshund that sheds big time and again the improvement in technology is wonderful. No more dog hair! The self empty feature is wonderful and it's interesting that when the dirt container in the J7 fills, it scamper back quietly to its base and empties itself. Then amazingly it scampers right back to the spot it was cleaning and resumes finishing the cleaning. Same thing happens if the battery goes low. It scampers back to its dock and you get a message from the app that it is recharging with an estimate as to how long it will be before it resumes cleaning. Because it knows how much cleaning is left, you don't have to wait for a full charge too. I love that after it completes the map of your home shows the obstacles if any, that it encountered. Additionally you get pictures of obstacles and you can let the J7 know if those were temporary obstacles, or whether you want it to avoid that obstacle in the future. It's funny to see a picture of my dog laying down in its path. I notice that now if it gets in the path of my dog it will stop before hitting the dog, and turn another direction. It's quiet too. Much quieter than my old 690. My dogs pretty much ignore it as it moves along the floor. Also noticeable is that it will turn off the vacuum motor when it is traveling to specific rooms or when it is returning to its base. Fit and finish is good and yes it does not run over wires or cords or doggie droppings!

This operates as advertised. It picks up our dog's hair well. However, if you have a long haired pet that sheds a lot, it's bin may partially clog every few weeks and require manual removal of the hair ball. This is an easy task and not a big deal. Also, if you have a lot of carpet, it may kick out a hair ball that accumulates on the rollers. Again, this is not a big deal. It's just not perfect. All that said, we love this thing and recommend it highly.

Bought this specifically bc I have dogs. Leaves so much hair behind! Called and was told I need to clean spindles of "brushes" every time. No matter how diligent I am or if I make smaller areas, it will not pick up hair. It's become worthless after 8mo.
