I live in zone 4. If it can handle a colder zone will it grow in a lesser zone?

Answer

Hi Angela - you could grow this in a lesser zone but not outdoors. You could put this plant outside during the summer months and, in the winter, you would need to bring it indoors. Thank you - National Plant Network

can this Gardenia be planted in the landscape?

Answer

Hi Joe - depending on you zone, yes. They are hardy to Zones 7-11. Thank you - National Plant Network

Beautiful plant & packaged well
I received my order today and was pleasantly surprised. I had been tracking it and saw that it would spend the hot weekend at the distribution center so I was expecting a dry, hot plant that would need a lot of care. They came in a big box with lots of air holes. They were in 1 gallon containers, wrapped lightly in plastic, inside a smaller box within the bigger box. They had very few yellow leaves. I immediately planted & watered them and I expect them to do great!

Response from National Plant Network TeamApr 14, 2020
Hello Tsaron - We're sorry about the no flowers on your plant. We usually remove them before shipments due to them causing slime and mold build up in the shipment process. If you replant and care for this plant, it will produce more flowers. Thank you - National Plant Network

The plant arrived nicely packaged and in good shape when removed from its box. I replanted it into a pot and A few days later the leaves started to turn yellow and fall off , Probably due to shock from shipping, but has sense Recovered nicely and now has many buds on it and I’m looking forward to smelling the gardenias when they bloom shortly.

Gardenia arrived in good shape & healthy. Have not had it long enough to judge sun/shade preferences. Quite a few of the leaves have yellowed/dropped, however, seems to be stable now.

Considering the boxed plant was on a truck for about four days, I am surprised it was even still alive . It was half dead and lost over half its leaves. One of the bigger branches was snapped and I had to remove it.
