8 oz. Medium Milky All-Purpose ABS, CPVC, PVC Cement

This product is an absolute trash fire. Used it on ABS, and it failed today. Turns out the product dries on the outside, shrinks, and leaves a porous, bubbly, void-filled disaster where there should be a solid joint. Oatey should remove "ABS" from the label as this garbage should only be used on materials where you have no other, better cement product option.

I used this product 2 to 3 weeks ago. Backyard main going into the sprinklers. I always wait at least 30 minutes to an hour before turning on the water. The Customer called me today. The glue failed the joint came apart and water was everywhere.

As a plumber I come across almost every kind of plumbing pipe there is. One of the problems is dissimilar types of plastic pipe. It’s not uncommon to have an entire house that’s piped with ABS pipe but the customer will select a shower drain that is PVC. The Oatey all purpose was designed specifically for these situations. I’ve used it on dissimilar plumbing products over and over again and have never had a single issue. Confirm with your local building authority to make sure this is approved before using it.

Only the best! This is perfect for all your plumbing and project needs. This glue has never failed me. Always use the primer and I always use a little sandpaper or scotch bright to break the glaze on the pipe before applying primer. Wipe off the sanded dust too. This is the large job can. Only buy as much as you think you will use because it tends to dry out over a year or two & then will be hard as a rock when you need it again. These lids get stuck too, a pair of channel locks will help open it again.

Great product. Dries well, not too fast, where it can create problems, or too slow. I used it on my pvc repair and was so happy with the results. It comes an applicator that is attached to the cap. I found the brush much too wide. I think a little narrower, would have made my job easier. I like the can size. It is rated 40 degrees f to 110 degrees f . I would certainly buy this again

Believe me, you can never have enough glue for all your needs if you just buy a small tube or can. But, this product can solve that problem. It is a good all purpose cement glue in a 32 ounce can, with an applicator in the cap for convenience. I have used Oaty Glue for quite a few years with outstanding success. With an above ground swimming pool, I use a good bit of PVC piping and this glue works very well. Also, being an old do it your selfer, I have many uses for an all purpose glue. This can of Oaty glue is just the right size for me, and should last me a pretty good while.

This is the glue to have on your shelf or in your tool box. It works on all types of plastic pipe: PVC (white), CPVC (almond), and ABS (black). I also use it on PVC electrical conduit (gray). The dauber in the cap is just the right size for medium to large fittings. If you do a lot of 1/2" fittings you will find it a little big. The dauber in smaller cans of the same glue is smaller and works good on smaller pipe. The consistency of the glue is just right and it sticks to the pipe and fittings but doesn't make it hard to join. The glue is strong and it sets at just the right speed for me. I have time to twist it for a good seal and align the fittings but I don't have to hold it in position for a very long time. I find that large fittings (like 4") will try to push the fitting back out before it grabs so be sure to hold it securely in place before letting go and moving to the next fitting. Also, the pieces need to be dry. There is a special glue for wet fittings but I have never tried it.

I installed 65' of 4" PVC pipe for a sewer line from my house out to the street. I installed the long lengths and then cut the smaller lengths, added the couplings, elbows and other fittings. I applied a generous amount of Oatley purple primer and did not wipe it clean to show that primer and cement were applied since it was going to be inspected and this would leave no doubt it was used. There is a video on the website that shows how to correctly apply the primer and cement. The cement is clear and comes with an applicator in the can. Since it is a nice large 32 ounce can I also used it on the ends of polypropylene and nylon ropes to keep them from unraveling and give a nice professional looking finish to a loop.

This all purpose cement is made for PVC, CPVC and ABS. It comes in a metal can with a convenient applicator brush in the lid. I'll be using this cement to connect PVC conduit running underneath my deck. I appreciate that the cement has low VOCs making it easier to work with however I'd still use in a well ventilated area. The directions recommend using this product in a temperature range of 40 degrees to 110 degrees fahrenheit.

The Oatey #30847 is an all-purpose cement that is designed for PVC, CPVC, and ABS materials. Along with the use of an appropriate primer, this all-purpose cement creates a strong bond, leak proof connection on these specific materials. It comes in a 32-fluid ounce can with screw top that contain a large brush dauber for its application. It should be noted that the large brush dauber may not fit the PVC, CPVC, and ABS connectors as nicely like the slimmer size brush daubers in smaller cans of the product when applying the product. Due to local plumbing codes in effect, you should check with your town or county plumbing inspector to see if this all-purpose cement is acceptable for plumbing use in your jurisdiction before you use it. I have use Oatey products for many years with great success.
