Why does the left hand door privacy lock have to look upside down on one side? When you put the lock side of the knob inside the privacy room, it appears upside down on the entry side

The Schlage privacy lock does not need to look upside down on either side; if the locking mechanism or lever appears upside down or is on the wrong side, the levers or the interior chassis have been installed or handed incorrectly. I see it says they work for right or left hand, but how do you reverse it? I can't see any way to remove the lever from the lockset.

After closing and locking the door, the door unlocks from the outside when the handle is jiggled downward. When the handle is jiggled upward, it says locked. Do you have any suggestions?
I purchased 5 of these handsets and two of them have this problem. It seems to be a common failure.
