The nozzle rotates on a rotary sprinkler to send out water, whereas on a standard pop-up sprinkler the water sprays in a constant pattern.

Did not work very well for me.
It’s not often that I write a less than favorable review for an item from a well known manufacturer but here we go. I ordered the Rain Bird 8’ - 14’ Adjustable Pattern Rotary Sprinkler (RVAN series) to try out as a suitable replacement for the pop up spray heads in my lawn. My system was installed in 2006 so I it’s is not uncommon to replace an aging or damaged head from time to time. The majority of the heads are regular Rainbird or Hunter 4” pop up spray heads. The stream spray design (as opposed to a standard “spray” nozzle) appealed to me for two reasons. Because I live near the ocean there is almost always a breeze - a stream spray is less affected by wind (I. e. less water waste). Also Rainbird claims that their stream spray nozzles are more water efficient than a regular spray nozzle - again less waste. Makes sense to me therefore my interest in making these rotary style pop up heads my new go to replacement head. The design is appealing because of the simplicity and ease of adjustment offered by this new nozzle. After viewing several ‘how to’ videos I swapped an old Hunter pop up for my new RVAN Rotary head. Thus far my experience has been much less than satisfactory. Try as I might the only adjustment I could get to work was setting the left stop position for a 180 degree spray pattern. The spray distance and right stop adjustments just plain did not work for me. I reflushed the head and re-watched the how to videos as well as viewed a couple of new ones - all to no avail. My guess is I ended up with a lemon - but I only ordered one and it’s the only one I have to work with. I did call the Rainbird customer service help line (on a Friday afternoon) but gave up after 25 minutes on hold. I guess I should have ordered two to try out.

      Standard partial rotation sprinkler head
I requested this sprinkler head to add to my existing sprinkler system that I have in the front yard so that I can water my bushes and flower bed. This sprinkler will allow me to control the amount of water being sprayed outside of the flower bed as long as I control the distance away from the plants. Not only will this help me save water. But it will also help me from overwatering my plants.

No frills full rotation sprinkler head
I requested this Rain Bird sprinkler head to add to my sprinkler system that I have in the front yard, also from Rain bird. My review today will consist of a number of pictures as well as my inspection of this sprinkler head since I am currently removing a large number of weeds from the lawn as well as acquiring the additional hose for the sprinkler and a control unit.

Great replacement head for old system
Great replacement for an old sprinkler head that got damaged. Accidentally ran over a sprinkler head and couldnt find a matching replacement. Decided to try this out and was pleasantly surprised with how well it worked. The rotating head seems to give very good coverage both near the sprinkler and farther out. Installation was easy with the screw on fitting and no leaks.

      Great For Watering Lawns
The new Rain Bird series sprays are a game changer. I trusted the product because it is reliable. I use the Rain Bird series and they are built to perform and last for years in all conditions. I like the units because they provide a spray pattern that use less water and cover more of my lawn. The spray pattern has small droplets from a rotating head that are perfect for my lawn application, particularly if it’s a little windy. It waters the evenly leaving the grass watered just right. The water reaches exactly where I need it to. The sprinkler head spares time and frustration when adjusting. The sprinkler head is easy to adjust, both in pattern and flow, and putting water right where you want it with a gentle stream, instead of misting everywhere. I like the idea that there is no tool that is needed when making adjusting for better water usage.

      Great Rotary High Efficiency Sprinkler
This rain Bird high efficiency rotary sprinkler is exactly what I needed to replace an old sprinkler head. This 4 inch head provided unitform coverage to a maximum of 8 to 14 feet depending on the amount of water pressure you have. I have this one set for 10 feet and it covers the area perfectly. To change the distance all you have to do is twish the head of the sprinkler.Best of all, this rotary head can save up to 30% on your water expense.

      An excellent sprinkler head.
Thanks to my gardeners, replacing and/or repairing sprinkler heads becomes an annual summertime chore. Luckily, there's Rainbird sprinkler to make it easy. This 4" pop-up sprinkler has a45 to 270 degree adjustable pattern and an 8 - 14 ft. distance. It is supposed to save up to 30% of water over standard pop-up sprays. The best part? No more having to disassemble head to clean - just pull up nozzle while water is running to clear debris.

Like that its adjustable by hand
The Rain Bird 8 ft. to 14 ft. Adjustable Pattern Rotary Sprinkler does not require the horrible little metal key tool/flat screwdriver that most available sprinklers require. I love that you can make all of the adjustments by hand. I do not find that the rotating strings of water do as good of a job keeping the grass green here in southern Florida as regular sprinklers. For that reason I use them in areas with already established bushes and other plants (not grass).

      Finger rotary sprinkler
These sprinklers are a nice addition to your new or existing sprinkler systems. They are easily screwed onto a threaded fitting. Once installed, it is easy to adjust the distance as well as the pattern on the adjustable pattern style. You will get wet while adjusting the sprinkler. The sprinkler waters very well and is a finger style instead of a normal spray style. I have used this style before and have had great results. Water pressure must be good though.

      Sprinklers for all!
The Rain Bird 8 ft. to 14 ft. Full Circle Pattern Rotary Sprinkler makes it easy to add a sprinkler to your lawn or irrigation project. This sprinkler head is a full circle patter, and depending on the water pressure can provide coverage for about 12 feet. As with many of the other Rain Bird products this simply threads onto the end of a them threaded length of irrigation or PVC piping. Assuming you have the base irrigation in place, installation is as simple as threading the new sprinkler head in place of the original. When in use, the sprinkler head pops up a few inches to clear the grass... and tucks away smooth when done, so you don't mow it. These will typically last a few years if your water isn't too hard and you don't accidentally hit them with the mower (we have all hit a sprinkler at one time or another).
