Answer This Question

The product information lists the weight of the 36 in. Metal Fence Post Puller as 12.4 lbs in the specifications. There appears to be a discrepancy in the highlights section. It is always best to refer to the detailed specifications for the most accurate information.

The easiest, quickest, and most convenient way to remove a t post
This tool is the best option for removing t posts. I've tried all the various ways from digging, clamping on a long lever, shake and pull, using a fulcrum, farm jack, etc. This puller beats them all easily. Previously I had settled on using a farm jack as the best way to remove a post. This tool is roughly half the weight and less than half the cost of a farm jack, and that's not considering the additional cost of an adaptor plate or chain. It's smaller size and weight make it so much easier to use and move. With it's dropping hinged design it has a ratchet like style that allows you to keep pumping the handle without needing to reposition anything. I was able to completely pull a t post in roughly 20 seconds from start to finish. While it will not have as much pulling power as a farm jack it is much quicker in operation. Even posts wrapped with vines were no match for this puller. It's best to try this tool after a good rain when the soil has softened. It already has a hole drilled in the base plate incase you need to add a wider wooden base for soft ground. There is an included hook with will perfectly accept a 5/16 chain for pulling wooden posts. I did not try that feature.

Very good leverage
This post puller comes fully assembled. There were no instructions but it is clear how it is to be used. I had one post to pull. It clamps inline chain link posts directly but larger posts will need a chain around them. It has high leverage for lifting force. The post I was pulling did have a crack in it so the puller just broke the post off at the ground. It would have pulled it had it not broken the post. I am very pleased with the tool and will use it in the future.

Very handy tool
I have used these in the past and generally they work pretty well in most conditions. This is slightly smaller than the one I’ve used in the past. I have a fence line I’m removing that has been in for forty years or more. I tried removing some of the post with this with mixed results. Some of the posts are under trees where there is a fair amount of tree debris and the puller just kept sinking into the ground. To make matters worse the ground is extremely dry right now and is like concrete so I couldn’t get enough leverage to pull. Once we get some rain, it should work fine. There is a hook on the underside of the lifting part and since the puller didn’t come with instructions, I have no idea what it’s for. Some of the posts on my fence are pre t-post era and it will not pull them, nothing for it to grab onto. The nice thing about this, if conditions allow you to actually pull the post, it doesn’t bend them like pulling with equipment. I have pulled some with the front loader of my tractor and they almost always are bent after pulling them. The tool is very portable, so you can take it places you won’t be able to take equipment. If you’re going to get only one, I would suggest the bigger one. This one works good, especially in tight places, but the bigger one will give you a little more leverage.

Easy way to pull posts
I have tried every way imaginable to get fence posts out of the ground. The trouble is that most of them required heavy jacks and chains or being able to position a farm tractor with a loader bucket next to the post. This post puller is relatively light weight and easy to carry. It can be positioned even on a slope. Once the clamping block is attached to the post the unit won't even fall over. The post I am pulling is in rocky soil and really hard to get out. This puller removed it without any problem at all.The only mistake I made, while positioning the post puller, was getting it too close to the post. The base plat was hidden in the grass and I didn't notice that it had caught on the nubs on the tee post. As soon as I moved the base away from the post the tee post popped right out. This item also has the the ability to pull round or square wooden posts. You can wrap a chain around the post and attach it to the clevis hook.

Works well, pretty easy to pull out posts
This puller is pretty compact being the 24 inch model. I was happy to find that my deeply imbedded posts that I couldn't budge easily with just a hammer came out without much effort. The downward force to get the post to start moving was enough to compact little rectangles of soil from the pullers base next to a few of my posts, but in terms of my effort, while it definitely took some, it was pretty trivial to get them out. My soil is loamy so it's not as difficult as something like pure clay would be but I imagine the puller would work just fine in that as well. I personally used this to adjust the temporary fencing for my garden, we're adding beds and moving beds for now. Until we get the garden just how we want it, I'll be moving the posts around every year or so so having something like this really makes a difference. Much easier than my old strap + floor jack method. The puller comes with no instructions at all though and while it is pretty straight forward you'll want to check the picture of how it attaches to the post online before use. It doesn't explain what the metal hook is for, but you can hook a chain or strap to use it to pull any posts that doesn't have the t post knobs. If you're just pulling t posts I think the 24 inch is a good choice for portability and effort moving it around. If you did get in a situation you needed a little more force, it seems sturdy enough have the handle take a few hits from a rubber mallet or hammer to get a post started moving. Worst thing that could happen there is sheering a bolt which would be easy to replace if you did it!

Small but Mighty - Amazing Tool
When we received the T-post puller, we were impressed with it's lightweight and sturdy construction while at the same time it's ease of use. We have a small farm on 15 acres so we use t-posts frequently, especially in our large garden. The garden is often modified/redesigned and the existing posts must be rearranged. I decided to test the puller in our garden against an old metal t-post that was deep in the hard packed, dry Oklahoma dirt! As you can see from the video, the t-post puller did the job! There are two issues to be aware of when using the puller. One, if you have an obstruction on the back side of the t-post (opposite the nubs), the puller cannot be placed to reach the t-post nubs. I had an old cedar post directly behind the t-post in the video that I had to remove before I could use the puller (see photo). Two, it is easier to keep the handle at a 90 degree or less angle when you push down so you can maximize your body weight. The puller also has a hook to use on t-posts without the nubs or ribs. We have some of those along our fence line that I'll try later in the fall. All in all, this is an excellent tool. It is small, lightweight and easy to store. It is sturdy and heavy duty while being simple to use. Using this puller avoids the back backing work of using a jack or getting the tractor out, particularly in small areas.

Compact and sturdy
I have to set up T-Posts for temporary control at random times and it has been a pain to pull them out. I found this 24 inch t-post puller and I like it very much because it is small enough to carry easily but strong enough pull out the T-posts. The hook is very sturdy and it also has a hook for using a chain to pull out a post that doesn't have the teeth of a T-post.

Must-Have Post Puller!
The American Power Pull 24” Post Puller is a must-have tool for removing all types of posts. I have removed tposts and treated 4x4 posts with this puller. The Post Puller is designed to pull the posts straight up so as not to bend your tpost in the process of removing it. The thick metal plate that goes around the post grabs securely to the raised notches on the tpost, all you have to do is pull the handle down and it pulls the post out in one motion in most cases. I did have several posts that were buried extra deep, no issues just get a second bite on the post and it will remove it from the ground. The included hook on the puller comes in handy for removing 4x4 posts. You will need a small chain to wrap around the 4x4 and secure to the hook, then again pressing down on the handle it will remove the 4x4. This Post Puller is well made and extremely heavy-duty, so I see it lasting a lifetime. I would highly recommend to anyone needing to remove tposts. This product prevents you from bending your posts as they are removed allowing you to save money and reuse the same post if needed.

Heavy duty post puller
This post puller is well made and has a big enough size to pull all sorts of posts. We use it for sign posts and it doesn't have any trouble even with the square sign posts. The 3ft+ length gives plenty of leverage and there are a couple options for grabbing the post with the hook as well as the notched end. The paint is a nice hi-viz red and looks smooth and well done. The can be used for any and all posts from smaller t-posts to wooden 4x4 or 6x6 (you might need a choker for the wooden posts).
