A:  Checked with the company it is not an oil-based stain it is water-based. If you want to seal it you can use either oil or water based sealants.

A:  You can paint anything but the better question is will it last? most paints are latex or Acrylic and both these are water based while the stain they use to achieve that ghostwood look is a mixture of a brown and grey OIL based stain, and we all know water and oil do not mix. So yes you can paint it as long as you have them mix some oil based paint for you, if you use a water based even with a good clear coat it will peel in the first year.

A:  Take a sample to Sherwin Miller and have them match it with the Woodscapes semi-transparent latex stain. This what the folks at Ghost Wood told me to do. I got one of the closest matches I have seen in a long time. Works great

Exposed to the elements in an exterior installation Montana Ghost Wood will start to naturally weather and change color as time goes on depending on the location and exposure with the ultimate goal to mimic the mottled appearance of reclaimed woods. If the customer chooses at a later date, Montana Ghost Wood can be re-stained.

A:  Montana Ghost Wood is a new pre-finished alliterative to reclaimed wood and can be utilized in either both interior or exterior applications. Montana Ghost Wood will vary in color shades and tones much the same as true reclaimed woods. The degree to which Montana Ghost Wood will maintain or change color depends on location placement and exposure to weather elements. Left alone as intended, Montana Ghost Wood will continue to age and weather, the degree to which, again depending on location of installation.
