A:  Not every Home Depot carrys the melamine faced plywood. I had to call around and drive to the next county to get a sheet. Well worth it compared to other options.

Q:What is the recommended saw blade to cut Melamine?
by|Dec 15, 2016

Answer This Question

A:  don't know, had mine cut by the store, and they could have used a better blade judging by the edge of the cut.

by|Dec 28, 2020

A:  Check saw blade manufactures recommendation’s, but a blade that can cut wood with higher tooth count will give better results.

A:  use finest blade, but before cutting, mark the melamine with a marker, then using a sharp and strong utility knife, cut the melamine along the mark. Then run your circular saw or table saw blade just on the cut melamine, staying just outside of the knife cut. Your saw will not cut the melamine, as it is all ready cut, but will cut the ply wood, thus sharp edge on melamine and good edge on ply wood. You can even sand it to perfection!

A:  Use the finest tooth blade you have. You can buy a blade specifically made to cut laminates if you wish. When cutting with a circular saw, cut with the finished (laminate side), DOWN. If using a table saw, cut with the laminate side UP

A:  You need a plywood blade with 80 carbide teeth or more. Chip out in the melamine surface is a problem. Use a sharp blade and go slow.

Q:do the have melamine for the edges

        Answer This Question

A:  I bought some self adhesive matching edging. You need to use a household iron to activate the glue. Then you need to trim it with an Xacto blade. Other options include thin wood molding or just leaving the edge visible, which is trendy.

Q:Is the white surface of this board perfectly smooth, or does it have a texture? Are both sides laminated with the white melamine, or just one?

          Answer This Question

          A:  Both sides and smooth

          3 found this answer helpful

A:  Both sides are laminated with Melamine. Melamine has a very slight texture to it. Melamine is layers of paper and foil sprayed with resin, then pressed and baked. It makes a very durable and wipe down friendly hard surface. Some folks use it as a kitchen countertop. It is not perfectly smooth like a sheet of glass, but more like an extremely fine orange peel or pebble texture.

          by|Apr 8, 2021

A:  It is smooth. Both sides are laminated.
