A: The concrete brick should NOT be used to build a fire pit.
The fire pit should be lined with Fire Brick, which are clay brick that can stand the temperatures generated by the fire.

A: They would crack if water was to steam off of them. So yes and no. With use in an oven, you will have to replace them a lot.

Q:I would like to use this as an edging between grass and planting area (soldier course projecting about 2-4 inches above the soil line) but don't know if the concrete (this one) or the clay brick (at 20+ cents more per brick) is more durable to a weed trimmer. I don't want to be using the string trimmer and cut grooves or chip pieces off and have to replace them down the line. If I have to go with the clay one, I will but if the concrete one works just as well (or better) I'll go with that one.

A: This brick was very hardy, we dropped several off the back of the minivan without them chipping or breaking. Can't tell how it compares against the clay since we didn't use them, though I would say the clay bricks at home depot look very nice. The wife and I figured concrete would be tougher than baked clay, which is why we went with these.

Answer This Question
A: I have only used the bricks as pavers to walk on or turn a dirt area to something to walk on. re accent, not sure as they will absorb water, where stone will not. I would ask around and probably stick with real stone. JJ

Q:how many bricks do i need for 338 sqfts?

Answer This Question
A: 50 per 9 square feet. so divide 339 by 9 (38) x 50 = 1877 or one should buy 1900 just in case. a pallet of the red brick contains 720 bricks. that is one heavy pallet. You need 2.7 pallets. That is a lot of brick to put down. I use a rubber mallet when installing. I installed directly on the ground, I have a few thousand around the house, it is a lot of work. after a few (30) are installed use the mallet to also tap each row to make the row tight.
