A:  I'm sure you can get the technical specs from home depot, your deck designer can calculate what size of support you need; 4 x 4, 6 x 6, or 8 x 8. I used these posts to build my fence, and my deck has 8 by 8 as far as support members

Q:What's the difference between "construction select" and "outdoor select"?
        by|Aug 9, 2020

        Answer This Question

A:  Good question. Construction Select is intended for applications where code approved treated lumber is called for, like deck joists or any structural member. Those products have more preservative and incising to ensure full penetration of the preservative. Outdoor Select products are intended as non structural appearance products, like the surface of the deck or railing, balusters, etc.

            Answer This Question

A:  They weight varies a lot based on how dry the wood is after being treated. Based on your strength, a 4x4x10 may be a bit difficult for some people, especially if it still has a lot of the liquid treatment product in the timber.

            A:  20lbs

            by|Apr 1, 2020

A:  I honestly do not know. I do know that the weight can vary because of how the lumber is treated, dried during processing. They are typically stout and sturdy pieces of lumber used where strength and durability are needed.

            A:  figure 3.5 lbs per foot. So an 8 ft. 4x4 would be 8 x 3.5 = 28 lbs.

            by|Sep 15, 2020

A:  Weight = approx. 44.7 lbs. each. Please note our material is pressure treated with a water based treatment so actual weight varies due to how recently material was treated. Good luck with your project!

A:  Hi CTS78. This type of timber is the correct type of wooden post to be used when placing posts into the ground in a concrete base. This lumber is pressure treated in order to protect it from termites, fungal decay, and rot. It is ideal for a variety of applications, including decks, playsets, landscaping, stair support, walkways and other outdoor projects where lumber is exposed to the elements. This lumber can be painted or stained. When used properly, it is both safe and environmentally friendly. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. Rick_HD_OC
