A:  This will kill the germs and bacteria. The odor is caused by leaving the door of the washer closed. In the use and care guide it recommends leaving it open to let it air out. When there is leftover moisture in there from the wash and the door is closed, it will cause a smell. It just needs to be cracked a tiny bit. We have had a front load washer for 5 years and have had zero odor.

A:  I have a top load washer and it works great. No odors. For front load you must follow instructions for drying the rubber seal before closing the door. If you don't allow the seal to dry you will eventually develop an odor.

A:  Hello Beth! Yes, you can use affresh® Washing Machine Cleaner in all washing machines.

A:  Hello Beth, the Affresh tablets work in all top load or front load washers. If you have a cycle for cleaning the washer use that after placing the tablet in the washer tub without laundry. If you do not have a washer cleaning cycle, just place the tablet in the washer tub and use the largest or longest cycle. Regular use will reduce dirt and residue in the washer, and reduce odors. If your machine is older or has not been cleaned on a regular basis, it might take a few cleaning cycles to get the desired results. A:  Yes. Designed to work in both front load and top load machines. My recommendation is to use this before a heavy build up occurs, because that brown scuzz is nearly impossible to remove, even using straight bleach and an aggressive Scotchbrite pad.

A:  If you have a fairly new HE washer, it requires you to cleans it with Affresh. I use it about once a month or when the machine signals me.

A:  As far as we know there is no conflict with fabric softeners. You might want to check with the soap manufacturer to verify.

A:  I do not have a top loading but I have a sanitize function and that is what I use. I think you would set yours on the cleaning cycle.
