Q:How do you recommend leveling the surface of uneven treads? What material would you use for that job?

            Answer This Question

A:  Below is the recommendation of our National Installation Manager. "They will need to use some sort of shim, paint paddle etc. and place in the "dip" to firm it up and add some extra adhesive to help fill the voids. With just glue you will still get some deflection which can impact the glue." Best of luck with your stair renewal project.

Q:How flat are treads expected to be? I have some wood treads that are a bit sink in the middle reaching up to 4mm deep. I'd like to know if it is okay to fill the gap with polyurethane construction adhesive or it is recommended to flatten those out first.

                    Answer This Question

A:  Alyssa, Than you for your interest in Zamma Cap-A-Treads. You may use a cap-a-tread both at a landing and top of the stairs. You will need to cut the bullnose off to a minimum of 4", then use the Wicker 4-in-1 molding between the cap-a-tread and the flooring. Your other option is to use the Wicker stair nose by Performance Accessories. Best of luck with your stair project. https://youtu.be/vT3HrIJE0yE?t=308 https://www.homedepot.com/p/PERFORMANCE-ACCESSORIES-Wicker-0-31-in-T-x-2-in-W-x-78-7-in-L-Vinyl-4-in-1-Molding-V4IN1-05731/316697087 https://www.homedepot.com/p/PERFORMANCE-ACCESSORIES-Wicker-1-32-in-Thick-x-1-88-in-Wide-x-78-7-in-Length-Vinyl-Stair-Nose-Molding-VSNP-05731/317315452
