Answer This Question
A: Robin,
Thank you for your interest in Zamma Cap-A-Treads. The cap-a-treads are 5/16" thick, and are not designed to interlock with the flooring. You will need to use a transition piece between the cap-a-tread and the flooring. Best of luck with your stair project.

Q:Can these be attached to flooring as in a raised entryway that has a step going down into the room?

Answer This Question
A: Thank you for your interest in Zamma Cap-A-Treads. They may be used in an entry way as a stair nose. If you step is wider than the cap-a-tread 12", you will need to cut the bull nose off the front of the cap-a-tread to a minimum of 4", then use a transition piece between the cap-a-tread and the flooring on the landing. Best of luck with your project.

Q:The item says 47" long but the description says it will only cover 45" treads. I have treads at 47" long, will these work?

Answer This Question
A: Steve,
Thank you for your interest in Zamma Cap-A-Treads. The front of the bull nose will be 47" from left to right. The cap-a-tread on the step will be 45" wide (left to right) due to the mitered bull nose. If your step is truly 47" wide you will need to order the 94" tread, then cut and miter the edge during installation. You will then need to cut the bull nose off of the excess tread for the return piece. Best of luck with your project.

A: Dana,
Thank you for your interest in Zamma Cap-A-Treads. These are designed to go over existing stair treads (finished or raw wood). This one will work with treads up to 1" thick. You will need to use the Type 2 if your builder is using 2"X12"'s for your new stair case. Best of luck with your building process.
