A: Hey there - thanks for reaching out! The display on this model shows the set % humidity level while setting and then shows the actual (+/- 5% accuracy) room % humidity level. If the display continues to show 85% and does not lower, it may not be drying the air as it should. When first installed, allow at least 3-4 days to remove moisture from the room to maintain the desired dryness. The unit is dehumidifying the air as well as the moisture from walls and objects in the room. -- If the display continues to have a higher humidity than desired, check out the “Dehumidifier does not dry the air as it should” section on page 8 of the manual: https://images.thdstatic.com/catalog/pdfImages/47/47a3adf8-7787-44f6-8c04-8af48bfe582b.pdf -- If these tips don’t help, service may be needed. Please see page 11 of the manual for warranty and replacement information. We hope this helps and please reach out anytime with additional questions or concerns. Warm regards. Lauren@GEA
A: Hi - Thank you for reaching out to us. When setting the humidity level, the display shows your set %. It will then change to show the actual humidity level in the room (+/-5%). We recommend allowing a minimum of 18" clearance on all sides for proper airflow. If you continue to have difficulty, please review page 11 of the owner's manual for details of the warranty coverage provided for this model -- https://images.thdstatic.com/catalog/pdfImages/61/615338bf-8aeb-4781-8951-c8fda04a6eea.pdf -- We hope this is helpful. A: Greetings - For this unit, you will need to clean the grill, case, bucket, and air filter. If you'd like, you can view the full instructions for this on page 7 of the use and care manual here: https://images.thdstatic.com/catalog/pdfImages/61/615338bf-8aeb-4781-8951-c8fda04a6eea.pdf. A: I have not had to clean the coils. You do however need to clean the inside bottom of the water tank with a forceful spray from a hose. It tends to get a buildup of slime from the water. I’ve tried to get in there with a brush but it’s tight. A forceful spray seems to work best. Clean every couple of weeks.
A: The bottom drawer pulls out from the front. Alternatively you could install the self draining hose to a drain.

A: The lower portion of the dehumidifier is a pull out bucket, which you pull from the sides of the dehumidifier; it opens very easily. Once you pull out the bucket, the filter can be pulled down from top portion of the dehumidifier. It cues you, but basically clean filter once a month. I would just use water and an old toothbrush to clean the filter. I had my dehumidifier attached to a separate pump, so there was nothing else to clean. Hope this helps, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY mine only lasted about two years! And it is not worth having them fixed, so on to my 3rd dehumidifier in 4yr time frame!
A: Hi there - The replacement hose for this dehumidifier is WK53X25673. We hope this helps! Thanks for confirming with us and choosing GE Appliances for your home. -Kacie@GEA
A: Hello! This unit will work in a basement. Just remember not to pace it in an area where the temperature will fall below 41 degrees Fahrenheit as the performance may be reduced. We hope this helps, and should you have any additional questions, please reach out to us!- Kianna@GEA
A: Will it work "in a" cool basement in winter months? Yes, but it is my experience that during the winter months humidity is much less of an issue, in fact I store mine away during winter as it is cold enough in Michigan during winter the air is quite dry
A: Thanks for contacting us. I will be happy to help! If your dehumidifier is running all of the time but not pulling any moisture from the air (no water in the bucket), then it is not working properly, and we recommend making sure your bucket is installed properly. Remove it and re-install it. For best results from a dehumidifier, please: ~ Place your dehumidifier near the center of the area that you wish to dehumidify. ~ Make sure the unit is not blocked by any furniture, curtains, or blinds. ~ Good air circulation within an enclosed area is essential. ~Clean Filter Doors and windows should be kept closed. Even when the control is set at the highest setting (10), the dehumidifier could run continuously during particularly humid periods due to humid air that seeps into the room through walls, doors, and windows. The use of clothes dryers and similar equipment also adds moisture to the air. The continuous operation of the dehumidifier during such humid periods is normal and necessary to maintain desired humidity levels. If you have any additional questions, please reach out to us via a private message on Social Media. Thank you! Joyce@GEA
A: Hi there, thanks for taking the time to reach out. If you'd like to take a look at air filter instructions, you can see page 7 in the Use and Care manual, here: https://images.thdstatic.com/catalog/pdfImages/61/615338bf-8aeb-4781-8951-c8fda04a6eea.pdf - You will need to have the air filter in place, as well as the bucket. Hope this helps! If you have other questions, feel free to reach out any time. -Michael@GEA
A: Hello- We are happy to help! Dehumidifiers have a drain connection which can be connected to a standard garden hose (not included). This allows collected water to continuously drain to a floor drain. The unit drains by gravity when using this method, so the garden hose needs to be laying flat on the ground and should be cut to the shortest length possible. If you have any questions in the future, please let us know. We are happy to help! Joyce@GEA
A: Hi there – We regret to hear that your dehumidifier will not let you set it to humidity level you desire. This unit has a range of 35-80% RH. If your unit will not go lower than 55, we encourage you to take advantage of your warranty by calling 1-800-432-2737. We look forward to assisting you soon! -Kacie@GEA
