A: 250 - it states 350. I would not stir by hand use a drill and a stirring wand. I uses a brush for the edges and a long handled squeeze
A: Thanks for your question. Coverage varies based the surface condition and texture. Driveways in average condition will have approximately 350 sq. ft. per pail. For best results, make sure you apply product in the morning hours on a warm clear day with plenty of sunshine so the product dries properly. Due to the limited information we have on your project, please read the Technical Data Sheet (TDS) for further product information, proper prep and application instructions. You'll find the TDS and helpful how-to videos on the individual product page of www.gardnercoatings.com. Feel free to visit the Contact Us page should you have additional questions. Thanks again and all the best with your project!
A: Thanks for your question. While the coverage rate may be slightly improved on the second coat, the difference won't be significant. May sure to apply early in the day with plenty of sunshine so the product dries properly. A: Yes. Really depends on the shape your drive is in. If it's in bad shape you'll need a lot more. 2 coats man you're ambitious!
A: I used it last around 2 years ago. my guesstimate is around 300 square feet. My driveway had quite a bit of small cracks which requires more filler
A: Thanks for your question. For driveways in average condition, apply 350 sq. ft. per 5 gallon pail in two thin coats. Coverage varies based the surface condition and texture. A: We bought all three types of sealer that HD offered. All are water based solutions and are basically a paint product on a petroleum based paving. Oil and water don't mix. There is a small difference in durability in the HD offerings but if you want a smooth finish you will have to hire someone to put down a coal tar sealer and have the contractor add #5 masonry sand to the blend.
A: Thanks for your question and YES use this to seal your 2 year old driveway.. Application with a squeegee will allow the sealer to have the same smooth texture as your current surface. Application with a brush will result in a brushed texture. Products should be applied early in the day to allow for good sun exposure and heat to assist in the curing process. A: Not for concrete. For concrete surfaces, you should consider Dyco coatings. They have a complete line of quality products, and many color options, for that application.
A: Around 370 sq.ft I have a carport that fits two mid size trucks that it just covered with one coat. Recently bought again for same carport and this time I did one coat but now there's more than half left over so I'll be able to do another coat.
A: Coverage rates vary but figure about 300 sq/ft per gallon. Rough driveways have more surface area and will use more product. Thanks again for the question. A: Driveway Sealers are not designed to enhance traction, however they can. Both of the products noted above contain sand for traction. However, the 10 year has higher solids, so you can actually add more sand to it to increase the surface texture even more. You can add about 1 pound per gallon, and that will help. Also, use a driveway brush, not a squeegee, as the brush will provide more texture which will help you. Finally apply the brush strokes from a side to side direction, so in the opposite direction of the incline. This will also help traction in the winter. Hope those tips help and good luck with the project! Thanks again for the question. A: Hi Bill, I have used Drive 5 and like it very much as it fills in cracks and is an asphaltic emulsion of sand. The sand is evident in the surface after drying. So it will increase the coefficient of friction on the surface, likely will be satisfactory for you. If you really want to improve the traction dramatically, Home Depot often stocks driveway sealers that have the words "SKID RESISTANT" right on the label. So? while the Drive 5 is a fine product I'd recommend if your priority is skid resistant there may be other choices as good or better. I will continue to buy and use Drive 5, it lasts as good as any, is reasonably priced. Lastly, it's very important that you paint the seal on the surface when there is dry weather for 5 consecutive days afterward, temperature between 60 and 90 F. I know that the directions indicate otherwise but if it rains two days after you apply any coating some of it will wash away, may streak and pond irregularly. I've applied Drive 5, gotten a few years of very satisfactory coverage but installing, painting it on properly is important.
A: The Drive5 is what I used on my driveway, which it did what it said. It filled in all the cracks and holes. It did leave a rough gritty surface which gives it traction. I don't know if it would hold up in winter, only because I live in the Southern California desert and we don't get snow out here like you do in Pennsylvania. Hope my answer helps you out. You may want to throw some sand on it after you roll it out.
A: That's actually a complicated question. If it's an old driveway with many narrow cracks and rough spots, I'd say two coats. If you have a nice flat asphault surface then one squeegeed application is all you might need. I must say coating your driveway every 2 to 4 years is a good way to extend the life of the surface while making it look attractive. Our driveway is 30 years old and looks very rough just before coating and two coats makes a huge improvement of the appearance.
A: This coating is holding up good and 1 coat is all you need.
A: We always recommend 2 coats.
A: The product was not applied to my garage. It was applied to blacktop in my driveway. It was applied at an optimal temperature and it rained two days later and washed off and splashed into my white garage and doors. Your company will not back this. Please be careful when purchasing Gardner-Gibson products. I can also submit photos if Antoine would like to see.
A: Hi ShaunP. I do not work for Gardner, but I have sealed driveways for over 10 years and owned my own seal coating company at one point. I can assure you that what happened to your garage can happen with any black top sealer. If home owners were home when we applied the sealer we would ask them to open the garage door because even the brush hitting a small pebble can cause droplets to hit the garage door. Rain is always an issue if the driveway didn’t have time to dry and drying time can be affected by temperature, moisture in the air, direct sunlight vs. cloud cover etc......and trust me when I say that small changes in weather can have a large affect on dry time. I might apply sealer in 85 degree weather with the sun beating down and the driveway is completely dry and safe to use in 12-24 hours. The very next day might be 85 degrees, but cloudy and dry time is now 24-48 hours. Also, a big factor is shade. I have seen driveways that are half covered in shade the entire day either by trees or structures from the house like awnings. Guess what, the area that was in the shade for the hottest part of the day takes twice as long to dry. I’m not sure what exactly your circumstances were, but I can assure you that any sealer will cause the same issue if not careful near the garage door. I have splattered garages and I’ve seen rain cause splattering on garages and it never matters what material I’m using. There are asphalt/sealer removers that you can purchase at autozone that work amazingly, but they’re meant for removing sealer from vehicles. Depending on the type of garage, they can cause some yellowing. Worst case scenario you need to repaint that area of the garage door after cleaning. I hope this answer helps you understand what happened and why it doesnt’ matter what sealer product you use. Thanks, Joe
A: Shaun P, I am sorry to hear of the problems you are having. The product we manufacture is for blacktop driveways, but it sounds like you used it in your garage? The coating is not designed for garages, which are typically concrete. It is also very cold in most areas of the country, and the normal application season has passed due to the cold weather. Products cannot cure properly in cold weather. We are here to help you try to resolve your issues.
A: The blacktop sealer is only available in black. thx
A: yes, two orders had varying shades.
