Q:Will this work with baseboard heaters? I need a line voltage system.
          by|Oct 13, 2023

          Answer This Question

A:  Hello there, JOhrt. Thanks for your inquiry. Electric baseboard systems are generally not compatible with Nest Thermostats. They are only compatible if they’re currently controlled by a 24 V thermostat. However, to ensure the full compatibility of your HVAC system, we recommend checking the wire labels and the labels on your system first. You can use the Compatibility Checker tool and verify the full compatibility here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9246656

            Answer This Question

A:  Hi there, LaJeff1952! Thank you for your question. The Nest Thermostat works with most 24 Volt heating and cooling systems but is not compatible with two-stage heat pump systems. The device itself comes with 6 wire connectors. You might want to check the Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd Gen. The device itself comes with 10 wire connectors which are designed for a two-stage heat pump systems. We recommend checking the wire labels and the labels on your system first. Q:My heating system has only 2 wires. The compatibility checker from Nest says the thermostat may work without a C-Wire. How is that possible? Where would the power come from without a C wire.

                  Answer This Question

A:  Hey there, LGMM. The thermostat uses the voltage from your system’s wires to keep its internal battery charged. If the power from your system is insufficient, the thermostat will run off the batteries for a while before it must turn off completely. But if you repeatedly get low battery messages from your thermostat, or if there’s another power-related message, you may need to check the C wire connection or install a C wire to provide consistent power to your thermostat and prevent the internal batteries from draining. Some systems, including heating-only, cooling-only, zone-controlled, and heat pump systems, require a C wire or the Nest Power Connector. Unlike other wires connected to your thermostat, a C wire doesn’t control heating or cooling functions. It only provides constant power to your thermostat. Go to g.co/nest/cwire for more details.

A:  Hey there,Skiknee! No, you won't need a new or different Google Home app for the Nest Thermostat that's installed in a different location. As long as the device is connected to a Wi-Fi internet and the Google Home app and the device are under the same Google account.
