A:  That is a great question. I would r4ecommend getting rid of all the water that got into the dirt cup as quickly as possible, to make sure the product does not get damaged.

A:  Very basic… remove cylinder from base, squirt it down with hose or rinse. In addition do the same with filter..clean filter in between replacements.  We use everyday with heavy use. Have a sanctuary where 15 dogs and array of cats go in and out. This has worked better than a lot of the more expensive that advertised for pets.  We put this through the wringer. If it is clogged it will shut down as to not overheat, which we have done. Unclog, let cool and ready to go again. Liked so much for the price I am on my second one.

Place the filter assembly on the dirt cup aligning tabs on filter with slots on dirt cup and twist it clockwise to secure into position.
