A:  1/ It’s important to use a food-grade oil or stain that has been specially formulated for use on butcher blocks to ensure that the surfaces remain safe for food preparation. Another option is to seal the butcher block with a food-safe polyurethane. 2/ You can custom it as a bench on one side for dining table. This will have the wonderful design set for kitchen.

A:  For Hampton Bay we add 2inches length for all size (ex: 4ft will be 50 inches instead of 48 inches length). The width and depth will be exactly the information we shown.

A:  Yes, it's solid wood. Very heavy! I purchased the 6" x 39" for an island and I am not seeing the 5" option on my computer.

A:  yes, this is 1.5 inches thick and should easily hold several hundred pounds of weight

A:  Yes, but it takes some skill to get a seam that doesn't show. There are quite a few ways to do it.

A:  You can mount them by Milter Bolt or Biscuit/Mortise and Tenon joint

A:  Yes, wipe-on poly will work just fine. It's how I finished mine, also for use as a desktop.

A:  You MUST use food grade products with any surface that comes/may come into contact with food.

A:  This butcher block can be wiped on well. Please remember to sand the panel before applying the finish. When you applied the finish, you must shake the can or stir it very well each time. Choosing the type of sandpaper to use is also one of the things to pay attention to.

A:  Normally, we will put 2 pieces together by joining (butt joint with milter bolts or milter joint with biscuit/ tenons and pocket bore). Or you can put them together by drill and dowel.

A:  Make a paste of baking soda and water and apply it to the stains. Gently scrub the stains with a cloth or a sponge to make sure the stains disappear.
