Q:What is the difference with this product and the Honeywell 7 day T-5 Smart Programmable Thermostat.

          Answer This Question

A:  The T5+ includes a “C-Wire Power Adapter” This power is required for full functionality. My home had C-wire power so the adapter was not needed. If in doubt, buy the T5+ and you’ll have it just in case you need it.

          by|Jul 3, 2020

A:  Hi HB, the T5+ and T5 thermostats are the same thermostat, the T5+ includes the C wire adapter while the T5 includes only the thermostat.

A:  I think it would be best to contact Honeywell directly on this

            by|Jul 2, 2020

A:  As my system is not a Carrier system, I am unable to answer accurately, but would guess it would work fine. Also, there is the ability to check system compatibility on the Honeywell website.

Q:Will this work with separate heating and cooling systems? Currently, we have 2 thermostats to run our system, which is a central air unit, and a oil furnace, which provides baseboard heat. I would like to consolidate this to one thermostat. Reading the manual online, I see nothing about how to hook up a second system, though it appears we should be ok using it with the a/c and the c wire adapter.

A:  Hi Jayg, thanks for contacting us. When having two different systems we recommend to have one thermostat for each system. It will also depend on the installation. We recommend to contact a HVAC contractor to verify the installation. Please feel free to contact us at 1-800-633-3991 if additional questions arise. We'll be glad to assist you.

A:  No experience with an oil furnace. May I recommend consulting an professional A/C company to address this? Fortunately our Heat Pump A/C unit already had 7 wires so no need for the adapter.

Q:Is this thermostat compatible with a system that currently uses wires C O G E W2 Y2 and R? I ask because I had purchased a popular thermostat only to find out upon installation that my system was not compatible. I rather skip the part where I have to return another product to the store for a refund. Thanks.

                        Answer This Question

A:  Hi there, thanks for your question. If you have a heat pump, the Honeywell Home T5+ can't control your backup sources of heat (the wires connected to E and W2). If you want to use them then this thermostat would not be a suitable option. Please feel free to give us a call at 1-800-633-3991 to discuss other options that would work for your system.
