Q:Can this be used with 2x10 boards in the ceiling?
by|Nov 10, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Yes, you may use the R38 high density in an open ceiling application. If you have room in the attic, you may also install R38 12" Kraft 24X48 standard batts. It is acceptable if the insulation goes above the boards in the attic space. High density is generally installed in cathedral applications where the insulation should not be installed against the roof deck, due to possibility of condensation against the roof deck. High density batts allow for a 1" air space between insulation and roof deck.

Q:How small can this be compressed? The description says 10” thickness but I would like to use it to insulate a garage door that has direct sun. Garage door panels are roughly 2” deep. Would this fit?
    by|Nov 5, 2023
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  If you compress insulation, you will lose the R Value. Home Depot has garage door kits for this purpose, you will be able to install more efficiently with this product. You will pay a higher price for R30 and not receive that R value once it is compressed.
