Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question on the XVJ03Z 18V cordless Jig Saw. This tool is a 18V LXT Lithium‑Ion Cordless Jig Saw. The only amp information we can produce relates to the battery alone. Amp wiil vary on the type of batterie you use. This tool uses the BL1830, Bl1830B, BL1840. 3.0 and 4.0Amp.

by|Nov 30, 2022

A:  Don’t know.  It’s powered by 18v battery so they don’t rate the tool according to amps.  It is surprisingly powerful, so I don’t miss my corded jigsaw at all.

    by|Jan 15, 2022

A:  I assume you're asking because you're trying to compare to a corded one. If so, this does not have the "power" the corded one does. Having said that, It's very capable and in some ways easier because it's a little slower.... and no cord.

A:  Yo Gustavo! I got the XRJ04. It is a brushed model which means I paid a lot less for it. It is as good or better than any recipro saw as I'v had. My handle is a clue to been there seen dat! Variable speed. I run a 4AH on it for balance between weight and run time. Won't need more.

A:  Thank you for your question. The best bag for the XVJ03Z, two batteries and a charger would be the 831253-8 14" Contractor Tool Bag.

                by|Jan 5, 2021

A:  Probably the tool bag. I don’t keep the charger with mine but do store my Makita 18v. circular saw with it. I use a larger tool bag.

A:  Thank you for your question. The XVJ03Z uses T-shank blade. These blades do not have alignment holes and are used in toolless blade clamp systems.

A:  It uses T-Shank blades which clamp in and are very specific to Makita (well they also fit Dewalt, Bosch, Makita and Milwaukee saws.)

A:  Thank you for your question. The XVJ03Z 18v LXT Cordless jigsaw does not have a brushless motor, nevertheless the XVJ03Z variable speed motor delivers 0-2,600 strokes per minute for fast and efficient cutting. Makita recommends the XVJ02 18v LXT Cordless Jigsaw as a brushless motor option.

A:  There IS a brushless LXT jigsaw, but this isn't it. You want: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Makita-18-Volt-LXT-Lithium-Ion-Brushless-Cordless-Jig-Saw-Tool-Only-XVJ02Z/205898411

A:  Not sure which ad you saw but this jigsaw definitely is NOT brushless. It has a pair of brushes in exactly the area you would expect to find them. If you are buying it in kit form with a drill and driver (as I did), they are both brushless, but not this saw.

A:  The Makita battery powered jig saw is far superior to the Black and Decker. If you are a Pro like me, it will last a lot longer.

A:  As a professional builder I have been let down by cheaper brands before. if you are already in a battery platform. I’d say go for it in your battery platform. DEWALT, Milwaukee, ridged. They all make a product that holds up to what pros throw at them. I just have Makita for the vast tool selection they have, and they are the main brand used in my line of work.

A:  This is pretty much what I did - recently upgrade to the Makita from corded budget brand jigsaw (Ryobi) which lasted years and worked just fine. The Makita's such a nice tool. So smooth and stable and tracks beautifully along the cut line. I wouldn't go to an entirely different battery platform just for a jigsaw, but if you have Makita 18V arsenal this is a great addition. Check out special offer from HD right now - two 5Ah batts, charger, and jigsaw for $199.

A:  The Makita far exceeds the lessor brands. I lost all my commercial grade tools in a fire. The Makita Jig saw is up there with the best! The advantage of no cord??? I will not go back to corded tools!

A:  Yes, BUT, the 15 stands for 1.5 Amps. Spend the money and buy a 4.0 or 5.0 Amp. The run time of the 1.5 is much shorter.
