A: To remove the top part and use it in a sliding door
A: Ignore the previous answer. I answered incorrectly. That pin simply holds the head of the security bar in place while you use it for security purposes on a door. You remove the pin and pull out the head when you want to use the bar to secure your patio door to keep it from opening or only allow your sliding glass door to open a preset distance.
A: Pin is used to keep the door nob latch in place and can be removed if you want to use it in sliding doors
A: it is used to take off the top black plastic knob holder so that the bar can be used horizontally with French patio doors
A: The pin is there for sliding doors. For sliding doors, you remove the pin to remove the yoke end.
A: The pin makes the bar adjustable to the height of your doorknob. Press the pin in and adjust the bar to extend to the desired height, and snap the pin in the hole to keep the bar steady. Easy peasy!
A: The pin is to hold the doorknob adapter in place. If you take the pin out, the doorknob adapter comes out too and you can put it in the track for a sliding door.
A: the pin locks the bar at the desired length and it is too flimsy so buy another bar.
A: The pin is what secures or stabilizes the selection of the length of the security bar.
A: The pin is to hold the doorknob connector in place. You would need to remove it, if you want to use the bar to secure sliding doors.
A: Have no issue with sticking.
A: I have not had a problem with it jamming, it is easy to remove, just grasp it in middle and it removes with ease, it has never got stuck for me.
A: No, won't get stuck. By pressing the height adjustment button you can release the bar, as well.
A: No, not at all
A: That's a good question. In my opinion, the security bar isn't designed to get stuck at all. It does give some decent protection against illegal entry, which is it's main purpose. I have tried many times to test this device to see if will get stuck somehow and prevent it's removal. Each instance, I was always easily able (with just one hand) to remove it from it's normal position underneath the door knob. I feel that you will be pleased with this device throughout it's use.
A: The bar is adjustable enough to fit all but a huge slider. The bar sits in the door track so allowing 4 inches for opening shouldn't be a problem. I don't think the bar would dislodge with opening and closing, but you could secure it to the track with tape for extra protection if you want.
A: it is very adjustable for your needs
A: It is adjustable, and the holes you see in the picture have a metal "bump" that snaps in the holes. I think you will be able to have door fully closed. It's easy to adjust, but I don't think it will auto adjust. If you put it in the bottom of your door, I don't think lock could be bypassed.
A: First, you'll have to remove the upper yoke head, then you'll have to remove the lower flexible foot. Then you will have to lay it down within the track that the door rolls on. You will need to experiment with the security bar's length by adjusting the length to accommodate the opening that you desire. After you get the appropriate length, you'll need to insert the spring-loaded locking pin at or near the desired hole on the bar's body and assure that the pin is locked in place. This security is easily adjustable. Your door's lock cannot be used when the door is in the open position. Yes, the bar can be used to help secure the door. The bar is ineffective if it's lodged at an angle to secure the door from entry. It must be laid down into the track of the sliding door and be adjusted to fit (closed or open) to be effective.
A: This product adjusts manually with the push button mechanism; that will be pressed in, adjusted, and snapped into place. It does not auto extend. When locked into place, this is a great solution to keep the door locked and from sliding (without removing the bar entirely).
A: Yes, unless it slides on your floor which would be very difficult.
A: The door handle will unlock but they wouldn't be able to push the door open.
A: Yes. The only way to open the door would be to remove the door knob. Great security product.
A: The security door bar is wedged underneath the door knob on the inside, and against the floor. Opening the door with a key will not be enough, since the door bar is forcing the door closed.
A: Yes, it will stop them, but you have to assure that it is properly (tightly) braced under the door knob and it is on a secured carpet (not a runner). The security bar needs a good rubber backed mat or rug. Keep in mind that this device isn't a solid piece of steel, so it isn't designed to keep a 300-pound person from forcing open your door. I would, however, assume that the noise generated from a forced entry would wake up someone in the family and appropriate action could be taken.
A: Yes it does.
A: Yes
A: The door bar is exactly as seen in the video. We do not offer color variations for this product. Thank you.
A: Yes, this item is white with black ends.
A: Yes, my security bar was also white.
A: Probably, it doesn't matter as long as there is something for the fork at the top to surround.
A: Yes. It just sits under the stem of the handle.
A: Yes.
A: Hello Jing, Yes this will work on lever handle door knobs. The action does not push on the actual knob. Thank you for your inquiry. Charlotte from The Home Depot How To Community.
A: If you can get the yoke of this security bar underneath the handle neck, then you're generally in business. Otherwise in my opinion, I'd have to say no. You really need another type of security set up. I suggest that you contact your local Home Depot store and speak with one of the staff who has knowledge about this security bar. Good Luck.
A: Yes, if your double door access is with two doorknobs, there would have to be one on each knob.
A: We recommend using 2 door security bars for double doors for increased security.
A: If you have double doors that can be separately locked or secured, then there is no need for an additional security bar, since it would only be required to secure the door that was not able to be locked or secured. If neither door can be secured or locked, then yes, you would need two security bars.
A: Yes
A: If you have two door knob I say yes.
A: yes it will work for handles as it fits around the base and not the actual knob or handle.
A: Yes
A: From all appearances, this bar should work nicely with door handles instead of a door knob. Don't forget to adjust the length of your bar to accommodate the height of the bottom of the door handle. If you have an odd door handle, please refer this question to your local Home Depot technician.
A: yes it works perfectly well
A: Yes, the non-marring yoke is designed to work with most types of door hardware.
A: Yes.
A: dont think so.
A: In my opinion you can get a better grip on the knob.
A: Yes it should work fine
A: Yes it will work on doors with handles as well as a door nobs .
A: I am sure you could take it back for an exchange for one that does work. You might ask your Dad if he has receipt or credit card statement if the other don't work.
A: We appreciate your feedback and apologize for your inconvenient experience with this product. To troubleshoot this product please contact our Master Lock Customer Support at 800-464-2088.
A: The instructions for use are inside the package box. If your security bar isn't working, I suggest that you take it by your local Home Depot store to see if whatever is causing your problem can be easily rectified. You might be required to show a receipt if the bar has a manufacturing defect. Without seeing the entire bar, there is no way that I can determine why your bar is malfunctioning in this response.
A: Reply with another question for me here as you did with your original query here on homedepot.com to help with you're not having it work because this is a highly valuable and highly adaptable product for a lot of different uses so I'd be happy to suggest solutions to your issue or give you reference's what you can use it for, have a great SECURE day .
A: It works, I love mines . Just try to adjust it to fit and it will be just fine , you'll see .
A: The floor is too slick... Had the same situation...get a soft piece of rubber with ridges.
A: Check to make sure there's no type of oil on the floor where you are using it
A: If the bottom of the security bar is not securely propped on a rubber-backed mat or properly secured carpet, it will definitely slide out when the door opens. Another example is if your security bar is propped against a tiled surface, there will be no traction for the bottom of the bar. If you have a rubber-backed mat, you still have to force the bar against the door to prevent it from sliding out and away from the door.
A: Get some of that soft vynal hose tape with no stickup and put it on the bottom.
A: When this happens we recommend using dish soap and water to clean both the floor location and bottom of the pad. Typically, we have experienced that dust/dirt buildup is causing the grip to be looser.
