Q:can this be use to cut out the stop out of a 4 in. PVC Schedule 80 S x S Coupling?

Answer This Question

A:  This is a very sharp hole saw. The trick here would be to use a vise or a similar tool to hold the PVC Pipe stationary. I also think if you used a saw with a great torque, it may be more difficult. Slow and steady will resolve this issue I think.

A:  OD of 4" schedule 80 pipe is 4.5", so that's what you'd need to cut out the stop and turn a regular coupling into a slip coupling, might get by with 4 3/16" as the hole saw can wobble a bit when you don't have a pilot hole. If you're unsure, just measure the OD of your pipe, as that is what will have to fit thru the coupling.

A:  Yes, if you can hold the pipe strong enough without twisting, and the drill as well.

Q:I have many Lennox hole saws that I have purchased over the years, but no 3 1/2 inch size. I need a 3 1/2 hole saw now, but everyone seems to be out of this size in the Lennox brand. Will the Lennox arbor/mandrel fit the Milwaukee 3 1/2 inch hole saw?

      Answer This Question

A:  It should. I used a Dewalt mandrel. I think mandrels may be interchangeable.

      by|May 17, 2021

A:  Yes, most are universal. If they have the same 4 holes evenly spaced on the bottom it will fit your mandrel.

Q:I saw information from Toolguyd that said Milwaukee has improved the BiM cups to 3.5TPI from 4/5 TPI, which is expected to provide more durability. I am curious if this will help on faster cutting as the new cups have bigger gullet by the smaller TPI. I would like to ensure not missing the improvement before ordering the cups for my tool box. Any one can answer my question ?

Q:How does this product work in cement siding

            Answer This Question

A:  It is not designed for ceramic cutting (eg a diamond cutting surface). This saw also lacks carbide tipped saw blades that can be used for cement boards. (e.g. as used in a table saw). Still, I would expect it to cut a few holes in cement siding before the blades become dull. If you only need to cut a few holes this might be the lowest cost solution.

            by|Mar 7, 2021

A:  It will wear out a lot faster than with wood. I'm guessing that it would last longer with the cement siding than it would with metal though.
