A:  there is an o ring at every joint you can get some faucet lube when you put them together but it may be the fitting are to loose or to tight should only tighten them hand tight other wise you can crack a fitting. have replaced my whole system and before i covered them i tested them under pressure had one loose fitting. after i loosened it up and retightened i had no more problems . I really love them I am an older man and wanted to make my system easier to repair should i pas can now change a valve in 15 minutes.

Q:older Orbit manifolds included individual valves to manually turn on/off a zone at the manifold. Can the valves do that now?
by|Aug 27, 2020

Answer This Question

A:  Yes, these valves can be manually turned off and on right from the top of the valve. The valves are marked to show the off and on positions. This is a photo of my 5 sprinkler valves for my 5 zone system. As you can see there are arrows on the top of the valves.

by|Aug 28, 2020

A:  Yes. you can rotate the solenoid on top of the green valve counter-clockwise a little bit and the valve will open.

A:  you can online

by|Jul 19, 2020

A:  If one has a bit of experience in plumbing and wiring it’s self explanatory just pay attention to the direction of water flow marked by arrows also the 6 wires 2 per solenoid take one from each splice them together to the white common wire and the remaining three splice them to the individual zone colored wires and you are good to go

Q:My inlet is 1 1/2”. Can this manifold be hooked up to it?
by|Jul 5, 2020

Answer This Question

A:  with adapters you can hook this up to about anything takes a little thought and engineering. but yes

by|Jul 8, 2020

A:  YES. I think the manifold inlet pipe is a 1" pipe. You just need to change the size of your existing pipe to match the size inlet pipe at the manifold, i.e., install a 1-1/2" to 1" REDUCER on your pipe.

Q:Where do you buy replacement gaskets? No schematic with part numbers for anything, say like valves? Assembly a good idea. But consider this. There is no part number or specifications for replacement gaskets. With out gaskets this makes this a useless product in the future. Adding replacement valves, Orbit or other brands, it is a good idea to replace gaskets.

A:  TruthSlayer Obviously you did not read the question carefully when you answered the question and your answer was just fluff to get your name in print. And you did not check to see if HD carries spare gaskets which they do not do. Also Orbit does not answer it's emails when sent or do they have any information on their website about gaskets for this manifold. Therefore buyers beware and do not buy this manifold. Useless response

A:  I’ve not had a leak, at this time so I haven’t had the need to check. My first action would be to contact Orbit, the manufacturer. Not sure how long the warranty from the manufacturer on the item however I believe that would best the best start. My next step is to contact Home Depot to see if a gasket is a replaceable part and if so do they carry it. Hope this helps.

Q:What size valve box will the 3-valve inline manifold assembly fit into? Will a 12 in. x 17 in. Rectangular Valve Box fit?

    Answer This Question

A:  12 inch box is in my mined to narrow I used it but really like a bigger box do it right the first time a lot easier down the line. they can last 40 years or so no problem

    by|Jun 10, 2020

A:  Your Valve box size choice will depend on several things. How are your current sprinkler zone pipes placed in the ground? Deep...or close to the surface. When I replaced my valves (I have 5 zones) ...mine were pretty deep in the ground...so most of the time my valve box was filled with water. I got flexible pvc line and raised all 5 of my sprinkler zone pipes up out of the ground so they would no longer be under water. I have all of the valves sitting on bricks and pea gravel for good drainage. I reused my existing box and as needed cut groves where each of the pipes entered the box. Please see attached photos. So far I am VERY pleased with these valves!

      A:  Yes.

      by|May 23, 2020

A:  Yes. It comes as shown. I added another valve to the manifold.

        by|May 20, 2020

A:  if you buy the kit

          by|Jun 10, 2020

A:  Yes exactly as pictured. It is all 1” outlets, but comes with adapter sleeves for 3/4” as well. You can also connect multiple units to each other easily.

Q:I want to buy this, I will only need it for 2 zones, but I'm thinking of leaving 1 unused to allow for any future expansion (doubtful, but you never know...). Should I get this and leave 1 unused? How would I leave it unused? Would I unscrew the valve itself and cap the female threaded end somehow? Or should I get the 2 zone, and expand in the future if needed?

            Answer This Question

A:  That's what I did when I used it, used only 2 valves and just left the third disconnected from plumbing and wiring.

            by|Feb 29, 2020

A:  Just leave the 3rd unused. As long as you don’t open the valve, it will stay shut. You can then use for future expansion if necessary.

            by|May 19, 2020

A:  I don't know about capping off the 3rd line but for the price I would buy the 2-zone and worry about expanding if/when you get to that point.

              by|Feb 28, 2020

A:  The 3 zone is fine & in fact in my situation I needed 4 valves, so have 2 extra, because I used two 3-zone manifolds. Ultimately you don’t need to do anything, other than don’t tie the wire from the timer to the valve. The valve is always closed until you manually open it or the timer engages it. Just make sure you run spare wire while you have your trench opened up for the future valve.

                by|Feb 28, 2020

A:  If you think you may expand the system in the future, buy the three valve assembly. However, if that is not a necessity, the two works well. I recommend that you make sure that the cable you run to activate the valves be either a 4 or 6 wire assembly. Also, run a pvc pipe from above the soil level down to the manifold box into which the valve assembly is put. That will help protect the wires from being damaged or "sun rotted".

                    Answer This Question

A:  yes depends on timer I use an orbit timer works very well

                    by|Jun 10, 2020

A:  This valve is designed to channel water from any source to the desired location. So long as the sprinkler pump doesn't produce too much pressure (doubtful), there should not be a reason it won't work. The only question will be how much current the timer can handle, though I doubt this is an issue.

A:  it fits perfectly inside the 12 x 17 box while leaving room for another valve the 3 should fit a 12 x 12 if there is such a thing take a look at the orbit valve box base and maching dura box. The only problem is waiting for it to arrive (7 to 10 days)

A:  you will need the largest box for the 4 manifold set up ore you can build your own. because it can be easily repaired it take up about 4 inches on a side more than a home made manifold.
