      A:  The 8x8 should take around 2 cu.yds to fill to 16-17" of depth (3-4" from the top), while the larger 8x12 should take around 3 cu,yds to fill to the same depth.

            A:  The product is designed to have the soil left in the bed. The amount of dirt required is 3.5 square yards and not usually removed, but that is up to every customer.
