Q:How do you turn on the night light?
        by|Nov 4, 2020

        Answer This Question

A:  There are three hot wires: fan, LED light, nightlight. And I think two neutral wires, one for fan (+sensors), and one for LED+nightlight module. LED light and nightlight are in a separate module not controlled by the sensors which control just the fan. I wish they would design the nightlight be triggered by motion. But it’s integrated in the LED flat panel light as an option for some models. You need a separate switch for the nightlight (it’s got a separate hot 120V wire), separate from the Fan power, or LED light, if you want to control the nightlight separately. I just pair the nightlight with the fan power since the nightlight is only about 0.1W (<$0.2 per year even if always on). I use the nightlight all the time because my bath has no windows. And it reminds me the fan is on or in the auto mode (if the switch isn’t obvious enough) so I don’t walk near it to trip the fan on accidentally. If you have two switches on the wall you can give them to the fan and LED light. Or you can gang the fan and LED light together and use one switch for them, and the other switch for the nightlight. Or you can ignore the nightlight or gang it with the LED light (you won’t see the nightlight so why?). Or you can let fan bypass switch to be always wired to auto detect, and give the two switches to the nightlight and LED light (you will need to provide a third wire or power to the fan).

Q:Can you have this run constantly and then boost to a higher speed if humidity is high?

A:  I don’t believe so. I specifically didn’t want the “background low speed always on” feature. There are other products that have that feature.

Q:We have a version of this product. It has the condensation sensor module and the multi-speed module. It has worked fine until recently, though I have had to clean the condensation sensor in the past. Now I can't get the fan to run in low CFM, even after carefully cleaning the sensor: the fan is continuously on at high CFM. I can replace the modules and see if that does it but before doing that... The base PCB has sockets for both modules, plus a switch that I'd interpret sets the default speed. I'd have expected that if I removed both modules, I could set the default speed to "low", but the speed remains "high". Anybody knows if this is an indication of a problem elsewhere: (like in the main PCB)? The new behavior started this week, when we had the high density of particulates in the air, but the base PCB and unit does not have any sensors, thus my question.

A:  Hi there, you will need to only replace the bulb, not the unit.

Q:where is the motion sensor in the box? I can't seem to find it. And how does the night light function? Do I need a separate switch for it? or it automatically detects Dark room and turns on. Please help. THANKS

A:  The motion sensor is on the grille about 1” square by the side, right next to the center LED module which is in the middle of the grille. See the other nightlight question answers. The nightlight is not automatic. It’s switched or permanently wired on.
