A:  I got it shipped to store (no shipping cost), which took about a week to get. I was in no hurry, so this worked out for me. You cannot key the lock to a specific set of pins -- except those in the kit. The kit supplies enough pins for 6 5-pin cylinders and three keys which match the set of pins they give you. I suppose if you had enough pins, you could match them up to a key you have, but then I would recommend just getting the full Kwikset re-keying set (I think it runs about $100) -- depends on how often you rekey, etc. Good luck!

A:  It can only rekey locks to a limited numbed of codes due to the selection of pins supplied, and not necessarily to the same code as a previously purchased lock.

A:  It may depend on the depth of the key cuts. The pins in the kit I used didn't have a great variance in length. When you have the pin cylinder out and your key inserted, try putting in the pins so they are flush with the surface of the cylinder and they should work OK.

A:  This kit does not have all of the sizes of pins that might be needed so it might work and it might not. We were able to rekey a new lock to match our old lock. I wanted to use as many new pins as possible and was able to use new pins for 4 of the 5 pins. 3 of the pins came from this kit, 1 pin came from the new lock that we were rekeying and the 5th we had to use the old pin. This kit didn't have the long pin we needed (came from new lock) or the short pin we needed (used the old pin).

A:  No. The kit comes with pre-cut keys and the specific pins that match only the included keys.

A:  The re-keying kit is to take apart a regular lock, change the pins, thereby changing which key will fit.

A:  No. Each rekey kit has it's own code, and is marked on the package.
