Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem: 1. Check power supply. 2. Check your fuse/circuit breaker. 3. Is the vacuum plugged in? 4. Are you using the proper voltage of 120? 5. Are you using an extension cord? Using an extension cord is highly discouraged. If unavoidable, follow safety guidelines and the proper extension cord rated for the amount of current the appliance uses. 6. Check cord/plug. Replace cord or plug if there is any damage. Please contact us if it needs replacing. 7. Check switch. Use a multimeter or an ohmmeter to check for continuity. Replace switch. A:  Make sure power supply was on, the filter was clean and take away filter before using for wet. You need to change the filter as needed, the finest one need to change more frequent, not determined by how many times. Mostly concerned is the motor overheat or short circuit by moisture.

The warranty lasts for the lifetime of the vacuum. The coverage will end when the product becomes unusable for reasons other than defects in workmanship and material. Moreover, there is a process to obtain the benefit of this warranty. If the vacuum was purchased within 90 days, the unit is highly encouraged to be returned to Home Depot for replacement or refund at their discretion. The store would be requiring a proof of purchase such as the sales receipt. If your vac was purchased more than 90 days ago or you no longer have the receipt, we will need to inspect your vac to determine if it is covered by our warranty. A:  Hello Kristina, Thanks for your inquiry. To remove the filter, Hold the filter tabs of the Qwik Lock™ filter in each hand.. With one thumb on the Qwik Lock™ stud, which protrudes through the integrated filter plate, lift on the filter tabs while pushing down on the stud. This action will cause the filter to release from the filter cage. To install it back, carefully slide the Qwik Lock™ filter over the filter cage and press down on the outside edge of the filter until the rubber gasket on the bottom of the filter seats securely around the base of the filter cage and against the lid. Align the small center hole in the top of the filter over the Qwik Lock™ stud on the filter cage. Press firmly on top of the filter near the stud to allow the filter to snap over the ball on the end of the stud. For standard or typical basement or garage dirt, you can use the VF4000. For fine dust, such as drywall or cement dust, you must have the VF5000. We also have a filter made of HEPA rated material known as VF6000. This filter is best recommended for picking up pollens and allergens. Lastly, we have VF7000 foam filter specifically designed only for liquid pick-ups or water-borne debris. These filters are regular items at the Home Depot stores. You can also order online at store.ridgid.com.
