A:  YES. Two small fittings are installed where your pipes enter and exit the tank. A Teflon ball sits in the fitting for the hot water outlet, while a polypropylene ball sits in the one for the cold water inlet. When your water heater is in standby mode (i.e. you’re not drawing water), the balls rest in from of the valves and prevent heat from escaping (convection). As you turn on a hot water tap, the balls are lifted out of their seating to allow unobstructed flow and drop back down when you turn the tap off.

A:  Hi Walker and thank you for your question. Yes they are supplied with the unit. For the loop question you would need to check local codes and speak with an installer.

A:  Don't know about heat traps. However, this unit comes with a motorized gate that seals the burner vent when heater is not heating, further trapping heat within the tank.

A:  If what you are referring to as the power damper, yes. Not sure about any other extra.

A:  What is your question? This is a natural gas water heater. Electric Water Heaters are much cheaper to buy! They are more expensive to operate.

A:  What is your question? I installed the Rheem water heater mentioned above and am very happy with this product. I replaced an older unit that was not energy star. The new unit provides more than enough hot water and very quickly. One bath, 3 bedroom, washing machine & no dishwasher.

A:  Please check faucet nearest to the heater. If it come out hot, please check insulation of the hot water pipes. It may take up to 5 min to get hot water if it is far away on the 2d floor. Heater does job well.

A:  How do you get electric water out of a gas water heater? I don't see any question?? Have you used a thermometer to actually check the temperature?

A:  Richard = DHW Heater Dial says (140) degrees BUT Shower is cool? a) - In ANY case, there IS something NOT RIGHT, obviously ... b) - Home DHW Heters MUST NEVER be operated @ THAT setting! c) - To do so will cause instant, serious, scalding BURNS to One's skin, "IF" actually at 140 degrees F. d) Chances ARE that the Thermostat within the mechanism is faulty & defective. e) - Have a licensed Plumber replace it.

A:  Steve = ?? "convert" to Propane ?? a) - Very sorry, BUT, No Longer allowed. b) - Discontinued years ago when "Federal Regs" demanded detection of flammable Vapors! c) - One must seek and buy a "Propane" DHW Heater so designed & designated @ Assembly Factory.

A:  You will need an adapter with a different orifice size to fit.

A:  Yes as it needs the power dampe in place to work right. The unit reads when the system kicks on and opens the damper. Once at temp and the unit shuts off, the damper closes keeping the heat in.

A:  Frank = Must I connect Power? Sir: Perhaps you meant to identify a different Model w/ Electric Damper & Ignition, as this specific RHEEM Heater never needs 120v connection, whatsoever!!?

A:  This water heater has an electric damper to make it more efficient. It must be plugged in to electric or it will not make hot water.

A:  Use long electric lighter and it will ignite it.

A:  This appliance is equipped with an ignition device which automatically lights the pilot. DO NOT attempt to light the pilot by hand. Wait 5 minutes to clear out any gas. If you do not smell any gas, turn on electric power to the appliance. Slide the ON/OFF switch located on the gas control to the "ON" Position. Set the thermostat dial to the desired setting.
