A:  Great questions, Mike! Before applying Rust-Oleum HOME Interior Floor Base Coating, it is important to rinse or sweep away any dirt or dust. This is followed by cleaning the entire floor with a cleaner degreaser. Once the floor is fully dry, we recommend applying two base coats to the surface.       Q:I asked a question and was told Rust-Oleum HOME Floor Coating Kit can't be applied to grout as it won't adhere properly and will peel over time. I thought this was for use on old installed tile with grout. Now I'm confused since I planned to paint over it

        Q:I want to paint the grout a different color & add faded lines/curves on the tiles for a faux look. When & how should I apply the 2nd color base coat? Should I paint the first coat, wait a few hours (how many?), then add the grout color, lines & top coat?

          Q:Hello, I searched but could not find this question in the Q&A. Please see below: would like to use this product to cover my bathroom high gloss Porceline tiles. Does it work on high gloss tiles or should I do something to the tiles first? Thanks a lot

          A:  Happy to clear things up. Yes, Rust-Oleum HOME Floor Coating Kit can be applied to high gloss tile surfaces. When applying to a glossy surface we recommend scuff sanding the surface using 60-80 grit sandpaper. This will help build a surface profile that allows the new coating to properly adhere to the surface. -Rust-Oleum Product Support 14

              A:  Happy to help, Gina. If Rust-Oleum HOME Floor Coating Kit was applied to your shower it must be removed before applying a new coating. Even with a top coat any full water immersion will cause the paint to peel. -Rust-Oleum Product Support 14

The full water immersion will cause the paint to blister and peel. When applying our Rust-Oleum HOME Floor Coating we recommend using a high quality bristle brush or edger to apply around the perimeter of hard-to-reach areas. We then recommend using a long handled 3/8" nap roller for the base coat and then a 1/4" nap roller for the clear top coat. -Rust-Oleum Product Support 14
