Q:Can I use a trap for the discharge pipe just before it exits to main sewer?
by|Nov 7, 2021

Answer This Question

A:  I can not give you a definitive answer as I do not know what the code requires in your state and I am not exactly sure what you are asking. So for a definitive answer you would want to ask a qualified licensed plumber in your area. However, If you are asking me if you can use a trap on the discharge instead of a trap on individual fixtures the answer would be a definite NO. Each fixture needs to be trapped and vented; at or within so many feet of the fixture. Also you never pump into a trap. The force exerted by the pump would result in an inertial force in the water that would create a vacuum that would empty the trap as water exits the trap. Water must stay in the trap for the trap to be a trap. Thus water always enters the trap via gravity.

Q:Does the toilet make more noise than a normal toilet when is flushed
    by|Jun 13, 2021

    Answer This Question

A:  The toilet itself is pretty consistent with most two piece gravity toilets relative to sound. The macerator, as in the pump that mounts behind the toilet will produce sound when it is functioning. It is not excessively noisy. The amount of sound it produces has more to do with the way it is piped a the movement of water through the waste lines is the biggest producer of sound. You will find videos of this product in operation on YouTube that may be helpful in determining if the sound level is acceptable to you.

A:  Yes it is more noisier than a regular toilet. The elevated sound is from the macerating pump grinding and moving the waste. It is really not that load though.

Q:How can I order just that bowl? The tank and macerater still work fine but the bowel got cracked where it meets the tank.

        Answer This Question

A:  The bowl could be special ordered through a Home Depot store. You can certainly have your local store give me a call and I can walk them through how do do a special order of just the bowl. Keep in mind that Saniflo has changed there suppliers of vitreous china, meaning the toilets, several times over the years. And old tanks don't work with new bowls and vise versa. So you may want to call Saniflo Tech and go through the process of identifying the model number of your current tank and bowl, to make sure your current tank is compatible with there current bowl. There number is 732 305 2200. If they are not compatible you could choose to replace the entire toilet as that would work. Chris 978 651 3301

Q:Can i used in california? Is approve by building

            Answer This Question

A:  This product is sold and used in California. But that does not completely answer your question. To know if this or any plumbing product is going to be acceptable based on your inspectors interpretation of state and local code as it applies to a specific installation, you would need to speak to a qualified local licensed plumber or the plumbing inspector in your jurisdiction. I am a plumber in Massachusetts which is similar to CA. in that the codes and enforcement are strict. There are many products that have state approval that you can use in one town but not in another. That inspector has decided in there interpretation of the code the don;t like it. Yes it can be this subjective. So if you have some concern, ask he inspector before you proceed. It is a best practice.

Q:installing BR 50 ft from sewer pipe all flow down hill. Can the maceator be installed in the floor under the toilet (garage ceiling)? is there an elbow option, or a bottom of toilet connection?

              Answer This Question

A:  We got this one because we needed a toilet and a shower below the sewer pipe. The sewer pipe is 4 feet from the basement floor. We needed the waste and water to be pumped up. If you are installing one that is above the garage I don’t think you need this toilet. Gravity will push the water and waste down.

              by|Jul 20, 2020

A:  No to your question about the bottom outlet elbow option. But more importantly it is a bad practice to pump down hill. If you can pitch the pipe properly you don;t use a pump. If you can;t you pump up to a point where you can use gravity . Pumping down a slope runs the risk of creating a vacuum that empties a trap. This could potentially allow sewer gas which is potentially lethal, into the home. Thus I would suggest you run your plan by a qualified licensed plumber in your area. Running drain lines properly is one of the most important things a plumber does but least appreciated. If done correctly you can achieve of years of uninterrupted service. Done incorrectly you can have repeated problems.

A:  For that information I would call your attention to the header "info and guides" on the Home Depot product listing page. There you will find PDF's of the specification sheets as well as other documents. You will find that the amperage draw is 4.5. and the discharge is 3/4"

A:  Fasteners were not provided, you have to go to a hardware store abd purchase them

                                by|Apr 6, 2019

A:  The unit comes with two plastic anchors that you would place in the hole drilled with a masonry bit. You also receive two 3” hex head bolts and two 21/2” hex head bolts to screw into these anchors. You would select the length that best suits your needs. You also receive decretive caps. I have installed many of these over the years. Some on wood floors and some on cement. I have never used the included hardware. I carry a ramset on my truck. I have always found it easier and potentially better to just shoot to ¼” lags into the concrete, as I just don’t like the plastic toggles as I always want to tighten them beyond what is recommended.
