Q:can i use kerdi board on the ceiling making a steam room, what size thickness?

A: Hi anthony,
This 1/2" sheet would be fine for a ceiling, as long as it is installed properly. Anything thicker would be unnecessary.

A: Yes if it is a residential steam room but in a commercial steam room you would have to put Kerdi DS over top of the kirdi board. You also need to make sure your ceiling is sloped 2" per ft.

A: Yes. According to the manufacturer guide lines, 1/2" board may be installed on ceilings when fastened every 12" on center. They also say it far exceeds the minimum requirements for a steam room.
