A: Yes. This is a standard wire shelving unit. This particular unit has 1" poles. Any brand of 36" x 18" wire shelves for 1" poles can be added to this unit.
A: I haven't seen any offers for extra shelves and I don't know if they would attach to the uprights.
A: Yes. These are standard 36 in. x 18 in. wire shelves for 1 in. poles. I don't know if Home Depot sells individual shelves, but many places online sell them individually. Make sure you get shelves for 1 inch poles as there are different pole sizes (I have some 3/4 in. shelving as well).
A: Made of rubber. Will not scratch floors. At least my tile floors
A: I think they are hard rubber. Mine is in the basement on concrete, so I don't know.
A: They seem to be made of a sort of solid black rubber/plastic. I've rolled it while it was fairly heavily loaded over light-colored Pergo Outlast+ wood-look laminate and the wheels did not scratch it or leave any black marks.
A: Yes you can, however, the rods that make up the shelf will be a bit bumpy when turned upside down. Small items may sit tilted because of this.
A: I am not sure, mine have been up for more than a year. I know I considered, but didn't do it, so maybe it was not possible. On the sides and back, I have stretched bungee cords to prevent items falling.
A: I think yes, but l just follow the instruction to assemble 3 shelves. To assemble the first one was hard, but much easier to assemble the 2nd and thec3rd ones.
A: Yes. However there is a support bar that runs horizontally across the wires that give it strength and would give you an uneven shelf across the middle of the shelf if you invert it. Also by having that support bar on the top you might lose structural integrity to the weight each shelf could support.
A: Don't quote me 100% because it's been 2 years since I assembled this unit, but I believe you can. I think you will need to also install the retaining clips that they slide onto upside-down as well in order for this to work right. HOWEVER, I must warn you that this is not ideal because the bottom of each shelf has cross-wires that are welded to the underside of the top wires of the racks that form the surface to keep them stable. Look at some of the pictures to see what I mean or go to the store (any store) and check some of the ones they have in stock (they are all manufactured the same way regardless of size or brand). Therefore, if you put the shelves on upside-down, these cross wires will be sticking upward and cause items you put on the shelves to not sit flat on the shelf. All in all, I do highly recommend this rack as it is built well and the large wheels make it easy to move around as opposed to those cheaper models with the tiny wheels that aren't really good for anything.
A: Yes.
A: The shelf corners are flared out downward to accommodate the locking sleeves. I don't believe it would be a good idea, or if it would even work to turn it upside-down. My stuff stays on fine, but they do sell sidebars as replacement parts...they're probably not that cheap individually, but you could put them on the short sides if you like. I wouldn't put the unit together until you received them, though.
A: Yes
A: It should do well for quite a few years. The chrome finish is well applied. All depends how much salt is in the air at your location.
A: Mine are in my garage 1/2 mile from the ocean in Hilton Head...no problems noted in 3 years.
A: It won't hold up as well as non-salty-air users. Nothing lasts as long in salty air. Your best bet is to coat it with silicone spray ever 6 months or so.
A: I purchased my unit about a year ago. Easy set up. It is used in a home on the waterfront, 3rd floor for storage. I put wheels on it to easily move the unit around. Held up great!
A: I’m sure you could, but I woildthing think it would Be safe since this rack is so tall as it is
A: No. What you see is what you get. I guess you could buy two kits and remove one of the shelves.
A: Unless you just need one, I’ve found it is cheaper just to get a whole shelf unit and use the ones you need in most cases. Contact the manufacturer for individual price.
A: I ordered one on the manufacturers website!
A: I don't think you can buy separate shelves. However you could buy two shelf units and use some from the 2nd set. I have done that myself and it works fine. I found a use for the 2nd set of shelving even though it had one less shelf.
A: No.
A: No
A: No. The backstand is available for this model: TRINITY EcoStorage 6-Tier NSF Wire Shelving Rack with Wheels, 48 by 18 by 72-Inch, Chrome.
A: Not that I am aware of.
A: Thank you for your interest in TRINITY products! Unfortunately, we do not currently make backstands for the 36" x 18" units. Please don't hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions! Jane
A: We own a bakery and know what you are looking for. I have never seen one wide enough for this rack. Try a local restaurant supply house.
A: Thank you for your interest in TRINITY products! We currently do not have a plastic cover with zipper for our wire shelving racks. Please don't hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions! Jane
A: Great item. Easy to assemble, sturdy and moves easily 5 stars
A: Please let me know where l can get the right size cover. It is a good idea to keep everything from the dust.
A: It did come wit a side extender with hook/hanger for extra side storage if you have room, I hook on my gym bag, boots, plastic grocery bags, etc.
A: The restaurant equipment industry makes special shelving for refrigerators. The shelves/racks look the same except the ones made for refrigerator use have a green tint to them. But I'm not sure that the substance/chemical is that makes that green tint. They are, of course, more expensive. You might be better off buying something that is made of sturdy plastic.
A: No.
A: Yes.
A: It is a very light weight steel tubing with a very thin chrome coating. It is not toxic like the old chroming process of yesteryear.
A: It's chrome plated steel. Chrome plating is not toxic. Some of the chemicals are toxic during the plating process but not the finished product. You wouldn't see these in hospitals if this was the case.
A: Chrome. Not toxic.
A: Thank you for your interest in TRINITY products! I believe I spoke to you on the phone a little while ago about this very question. To reiterate, the EcoStorage Wire Shelving Racks are merely chrome in color. The color is achieved by an electroplating process and *not* by dipping the shelves and poles in chromium (which is toxic to the environment when dumped into the ground). Please don't hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions! Jane
A: Hi WF, These are chrome plated steel. Kind of like shiny bicycle handlebars or like the car bumpers of the 50's, 60's and 70's. The chromium is electrolytically bonded to the surface of the steel in a thin layer. In this state, the chromium is inert and non-toxic. These shelves are NSF (National Sanitation Foundation) certified. These are the people who decide what can and cannot be used in commercial kitchens. These shelves, obviously, can be used in commercial kitchens. I have several of these units. Some are over twenty years old and look like I just pulled them out of the box. I hope this helped. Good luck. Chris
A: No.
A: No. Casters will add 4" to the height
A: Yes. You can choose to install wheels or w/o wheels.
A: No. With wheels the height is 77 inches. If you assemble the unit with the included adjustable rubber feet, the height is 72 inches.
A: Hi Highlander72, No, The unit is 77" with the wheels. Hope that helped. Good luck! Chris
